It has been an excruciatingly agonizing wait for the families of the victims of the building collapse in Miami-Dade County’s town of Surfside. On Saturday, Gov. Ron DeSantis went to meet them at the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside.
Crews have been working overnight, through the rain, and even at the risk of spontaneous fires. Officials said they are doing their best to provide regular updates at the hotel. Still, some relatives are losing their patience.
“It’s not enough,” a distraught mother told DeSantis. “Imagine if your children were in there. You are going to leave here and you are going to take a nice picture. I know you are doing everything you can, but it’s not enough.”

I not blaming Desantis at all but 4 days in and only found 3 bodies?
Things do seem to be going awfully slooooow.
Get an excavator or crane in there and start lifting off the concrete slabs.
we should seriously start thinking about denying Stupid any attention what so ever...
Good question, I agree something is not right about all this. If it claims it happened due to sinking does that mean the Millennium Tower (Condos)in San Fransisco will come down like that too?
Folks down there in South Florida ought to learn to shut their mouths until the cause of this horror is discovered. Governor, Ron DeSantis has nothing to do with what happened to the poor and ill fated occupants of that building that came apart falling down. It could be a structural problem, it could a Muslim terror attack targeting American Jews. The Federal government should already be deeply involved in tracking down the cause!!! With our now open borders, thanks to the Biden/Harris, Democrat Party, any Muslim terrorist can easily slip into the USA looking to quietly and secretly slaughter and kill American Jews & other American innocent citizens!!! Only time and research will reveal & determine the true cause of this massive murder of innocent Americans!!!
Interesting that the alleged distraught mother is never identified or asked to comment on the record.
Now why do you suppose that could be...?
It’s the same bunch of Q followers who think the covid vaccine is a conspiracy theory to kill is all. It must be exhausting to love that way
must be exhausting to live that way
The rubble pile is very unstable. Brining in heavy equipment wouldn't help but to make it more so.
Since that was a condo building, I’m hoping that those 100+ individuals reported missing are actually snow birds who only live in those units during the winter months and are actually at their northern homes for the summer......
Ditto. I knew this was being set up as DeSantis’ Katrina or Covid. You can bet every dollar you own that Democrats will weaponize any catastrophe for political purposes, whether its Bush, Trump, or DeSantis.
‘local news is just as biased and corrupt as national news outlets.”
The liberal news twinkies in Knoxville are unwatchable. Hubby has it on in the morning for weather and I have to leave the room. The female are especially disgusting.
Like most rats they politicize only when a republican is in office otherwise they look to their rat leader for solace compassion, more funding and a candle light vigil
This building is condos that sell for $600,000 to $700,000. We know there was delayed maintenance and shoddy work done on crucial structural repairs.
Yet who are the owners going to sue? Each other?
Only when it’s politically expedient for Democrats, though.
You’re a mother who thinks your biologically female daughter shouldn’t have to compete with - or change next to - a biologically male ‘transgendered female.’ then you’re a knuckle-dragging bigot who should STFU and be shunned from public life.
What Are Threshold Building Inspectors?
Is this what the 2018 report was regarding, or something else?
It would be interesting to see all the city and county paperwork on this building...
Nothing less than Desantis transforming into the Hulk and clearing the rubble will appease her. And the press will still lament he couldn’t raise Lazarus.
Well, it depends if it’s a condo or a co-op. A condo is typically owned by a person or corporation whereas a co-op is owned by an cooperative association that the owners are shareholders in. I’m not sure what the building in Surfside is.
However, for several difference reasons (mostly to do with taxes) cooperatives aren’t nearly as common in Florida as they are in places like NYC.
I was watching some of the rescuers on TV and thought the same thing....WHY were they moving so SLOW?? You can BET that most of these people are DEMOCRATS and now the mantra starts...”DeSantis didn’t do enough”!
As I understand it, the building has been sinking 2cm a year for a number of years now and there's an ongoing lawsuit about it. The management company of the building and the building construction company were also informed of significant cracks in the parking garage under the building. They were "patching" them and telling residents the cracks weren't any major concern.
I'm no legal expert here but I'm guessing the ongoing lawsuits just got a whole lot more expensive for the defendants (management company, construction company.)
I knew it was going to be only a matter of time before they tried to blame this on DeSantis. I thought, naively, they might wait until the fires were actually put out.
Like just about every other state, Florida law invests the power to enforce state building codes ENTIRELY with municipal/county agencies. Florida statute 553.79 is wholly unambiguous. Permits and inspections are the sole purview of the local enforcement agencies.
Democrats outnumber Republican 2:1 in Surfside. This thing speaks for itself.
