Capitol Police to use Army surveillance gear to monitor Americans and ‘identify emerging threats’

U.S. Capitol Police will start using Army surveillance equipment to monitor Americans as part of a larger effort to improve security and turn the force into “an intelligence-based protective agency” in the wake of the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Last week, the USCP took possession of eight Persistent Surveillance Systems Ground – Medium (PSSG-M) units, fulfilling a request that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved on June 2. The units capture high-definition video and include night vision, but do not feature facial recognition capabilities.

“This technology will be integrated with existing USCP camera infrastructure, providing greater high definition surveillance capacity to meet steady-state mission requirements and help identify emerging threats,” the Pentagon said.

The same technology was used by troops during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to observe large areas day and night.

When the Republicans retake the house and senate and republican president are in office, can they use the capital Stasi that the left are creating to spy on liberals and monitor them too?

Even if they could, they wouldn't. But they would use it to spy on conservatives, patriots, and anyone who expresses any opposition to their ever-increasing tyranny, power, and control.

There is only one party in Washington.

A great way to fight back is to use secure encrypted communication. Two with great reputations for robust security are Signal for texting and Protonmail for email.

Imagine what would happen if tens of millions of people’s messages could no longer be tracked by The Swamp. Can almost hear the howls and gnashing teeth, now!

Capitol police are not subject to oversight.

They are run by the federal government and are secret.

Therefore, expand their reach to all America.

Although I understand this to be correct, I have a huge problem understanding how .

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were designed to keep our country safe from this sort of thing. Checks and balances, the supreme court, etc.

Has no one ever taken a case to the supreme court?

You make good points.

You need to understand almost the entire government is illegitimate.

Imagine what would happen if tens of millions of people’s messages could no longer be tracked by The Swamp.

Imagine if big tech companies willing worked with the government to provide back doors to encrypted communications.

The solution may be low-tech communication systems.

Don't put your faith in technology to save your neck. It can also hang you.

As the journalist and political essayist Joseph Sorban once commented "The Constitution no longer represents a serious threat to our form of government."

I’m afraid you are right. Sadly. Our party is truly pathetic these days. Jenna Ellison just left the party because they are so pathetic now, and I don’t blame her one bit. The gop is full of Benedict Arnolds

I just looked at the wiki entry for the MSS. The logo has the symbol of the CPP rather the national symbol. Thus it is the “Sword and Shield of the Party”, much like the KGB and Stasi. It is modeled after the KGB.

Ask yourself why they are having to start up a new agency instead of using regular military intelligence and FBI. There is an answer.
