Donald Trump Plays Gen. Patton Speech at Rally: We’re Tired of ‘Woke’ Generals
Breitbart ^ | 22 Aug 2021 | CHARLIE SPIERING

Posted on 08/22/2021 8:10:32 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Former President Donald Trump criticized the “woke” generals in the United States military on Saturday at a rally in Alabama, contrasting them to World War II Gen. George Patton.

Prior to his rally, the former president played a clip of a six-minute speech delivered by actor George C. Scott from the movie Patton.

“We’re getting tired of the woke generals that we have right?” he asked, pointing to the failure of President Joe Biden and the U.S. military to properly withdraw from Afghanistan.

The president also criticized Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, recalling when he walked with him to St. John’s Church through Lafayette Square to defy leftist protesters and then apologized to the establishment media for doing so.

“I said this guy doesn’t have what it takes, and you see that now because the worst decision I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Milley has also been criticized by the right for emphasizing the importance of understanding “white rage” and embracing critical race theory.

Trump said he was inspired to play the Patton clip right before his rally.

“I said, ‘Get that clip quickly. The people of Alabama understand that,'” he said.

“Do you think that General Patton was woke? I don’t think so,” Trump said and added, “He was the exact opposite.”

That clip seemed to go over really well. Too bad it was Scott acting like Patton, but the portrayal was spot on and the comparison with Milley way perfect.

That scene softened the language a bit. Patton didn't say "Fornicating".

I think the other pertinent scene in the Patton movie, is the one where Patton is talking to the reporters, and when Patton says he’s going to Malta, a smarmy reporter asks him, “Will you be slapping any soldiers over there, General?”

I don’t know how Patton didn’t just shoot that son-of-a-bitch right there.

War As I Knew It
THE BATTLE MEMOIRS OF “BLOOD ‘N GUTS”
By George S. Patton, Jr.

From the invasion of Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge, General George S. Patton, Jr., was the most flamboyant, audacious Allied leader of World War II. Brandishing his famous pearl-handled pistols and driven by a profound belief that wars are won by killing the enemy as fast as possible, Patton slammed the tanks and men of the Third Army across Europe at a breakneck pace. He battled not only the enemy but Supreme Headquarters; he complained SHAEF was doing all it could to deny him early victory.

Now in these fascinating and frank memoirs, Patton speaks out with intense personal feelings about the Second World War, the art of war, and the soldier’s life. He gives us an unforgettable self-portrait of an American professional soldier caught in the toils of war.

ABOUT GEORGE S. PATTON, JR.

George S. Patton, Jr., (1885–1945) served as Pershing’s aide in Mexico in 1916, rose from captain to major general between the world wars, and headed the illustrious Third Army in World War II.

Right.
Trump had four years to do something with the Generals.
The same chit that was there when DJT took office was there when he left.

In some respects Trump is another Patton. Brash, bold, and driven to get things done.

Add “undiplomatic” to the list. That last characteristic is usually not an advantage. It got Patton in trouble. And it got Trump in trouble. Oh, well. Nobody is perfect.

Maybe he should have played the last scene in "The Dirty Dozen", with Charles Bronson...

"Killin' Generals could get to be a habit with me!"

I hope Trump realizes that his decision to appoint Milley was no prize either.

Say what you will about George C Scott......He was a wonderful actor and captured Patton’s persona perfectly.

True that. I hate to have to say it, but it was Trump who appointed Gen. Milley as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. And this highlights what is perhaps Trump’s biggest weakness. He trusted folks who shouldn’t have been trusted.

But Trump is not stupid. He’ll learn from this, and hopefully be more careful next time (MAGA, 2024).

The first day in office Rrump should have declared the Obama regime as illegitimate. All military promotions made since 2008 would have reverted and all laws signed immediately voided.

George C. Scott was a Marine Corps veteran. Maybe he got some inspiration from DI’s he knew there.

Trump had to take advice from people in the government...he new nothing about how it worked...if he hired someone and they did not work out he got rid of them...

but some people have to be approved by congress...so theres a problem

After a couple of years he finally got the right people..without any help from the GOP
