CIA Director William Burns held a secret meeting with the Taliban head Abdul Ghani Baradar in Kabul on Monday, the Washington Post reported.
According to the WP, this is the first face-to-face meeting between the Taliban and Biden administration since Kabul's fall on August 15, 2021.
President Biden’s decision to send CIA director for talks with the Taliban group comes amid a effort to evacuate people from Kabul airport in what the Biden described as “one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history.”
The White House reported that the US has so far evacuated about 48,000 people from Afghanistan since August 14.

I was listening to Fox News Radio this morning. They were interviewing an American still in Afghanistan. She says she and other Americans are being held hostage. She tried getting to the airport, but there were 20 Taliban checkpoints which prevented her from proceeding. She’s fearful for her life and is hiding in her home.
Yes, she’s an American.
Kind of takes a little wind out of the sails of the “Pompeo met with Baradar, so everything is Trump’s fault.”

DOD and Austen stated PUBLICLY, yesterday that if Biden wants to extend the Deadline, they need that decision by End of Day Tuesday, in order to implement a plan to get military out.
1. This is a last ditch effort to get Taliban to waive deadline.
2. National Security Establishment doesn’t trust incompetent Biden now. They did this publicly to cover their asses.
3. The situation Biden got us into is DIRE. We may have to leave or abandon or Strand Americans.
4. The Afghan interpeters/military/security allies are already abandoned and most will die. PERIOD.
5. Enemies and Aliies alike are proclaiming America as dead as a superpower. Questioning NATO, etc.
6. Biden Presidency dead? Nope, After the Media kevetch on Biden, they go into Midterm mode with FULL PROPAGANDA BLITZ

For them, they can claim they’re evacuating huge numbers of people, including Americans who left before commercial service ended (which they already are taking credit for) with the Afghans being our helpers (even if some of the boarding the C-17s have RPGs strapped to their backs).
