Not sure it’s a very smart move. But hope it works well.

Regardless of what my lawyer might advise if I was charged with a crime and knew I had done nothing wrong wild horses couldn't keep me off the witness stand.

Wonder why he was put on the stand?

There may be evidence they can’t get into the trial via other means. I can’t think of why he would take the stand; but maybe given what has transpired he thinks he will come across as sympathetic. IANAL but usually this is risky. One slip up and he can doom himself.

If I was Kyle on the stand with everyone watching, I'd say these things:

The #1 at fault are the rioters who tried to kill him.

The #2 at fault are the press ginning up the rioters and justifying all the destruction they caused in other cities.

The #3 at fault is the mayor and the police for not protecting their city.

The #4 at fault are the men of Kenosha, who all should be ashamed of themselves for doing less to protect their own town than an out-of-state teenager. If the police can't be counted on then the men of the town should be.

If I am on a jury, I want to hear from the defendant, especially since much of the decision might hang on his state of mind that night. I wish there was a special rule where each juror could ask two questions of the defendant after the lawyers took their shots.

Defense opening on the 1st day said; You’ll here from the defendant”.

I have no idea why they made the decision. Maybe Kyle insisted?

Took a peak at live feed and it seems you may be right. Rittenhouse was giving details about what he was doing there and about people he was helping with first aid, an of being pepper sprayed without retaliating. Stuff I kind of doubt the prosecution wants the jury to know about.

18 year old men are more passionate than wise. If the Prosecutor trips him up, it may very well cost him dearly. Doubt thise jury will find him guilty but some left wing ideologue on that jury may hang it and force a retrial. Either way not testifying is a bit of a gamble.

I am listening. Unless something twists up on him, I think he’s doing an excellent job, and seems to be a very wholesome young guy with good intentions. JMHO

After the clown show of a prosecution rested, I wouldn’t think having Kyle on the stand would be necessary or worth it.

But, the defense is solid. The prosecution really has no case. It was self-defense and any honest person or juror knows that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

That’s unusual.

Maybe they think the prosecution did such a bad job of making their case that there's no real risk on allowing Rittenhouse on the stand? If so let's hope that it doesn't come back to bite them.

I’m not sure how this helps.

He’s already on the not guilty track.

Yes, and stuff that may be hard for the Defense team to bring into the trial any other way. May be ruled irrelevant, or maybe hard to corroborate or get witnesses to show up or testify.

Also just read he (basically) claimed he didn’t bring the rifle with him from IL but that it was in WI the entire time which was part of the media chatter (”he took a gun across state lines”) but not sure how that aspect played in the trial.

Surely he has been coached on how to:

1. Listen to the question.
2. Answer the question.
3. Shut up.

I don’t believe the defense would subject him to cross examination without solidly believing he was ready to perform.
