"Ranchers in some states can may shoot wolves that attack their livestock. But not in Colorado."

Anybody (who has a gun) can shoot wolves. But not everyone (who has a gun) may.

If you are far enough out on a ranch that the wolves are hunting, I cannot imagine there would be too many eyes on what you shoot.

The ranchers should purchase some Anatolian Shepherd dogs to deal with the wolves. That’s like hiring hit men.

An old retired astronomer-turned-rancher gathered his sons to discuss his will. After the other details were covered, the discussion turned to the Colorado ranch. The astronomer told them he wanted to leave the ranch intact to all of them, rather than break it up. He would leave it to them only if they agreed to rename it “The Solar Focus Ranch”.

The three sons briefly discussed this among themselves.

The eldest spoke up and asked why, why that name?

With a twinkle in his eye, the old man replied, because it’s where the sons raise meat...

So relocate the wolves to the urban areas.

Perfect.

There was a man in the mountains in Silvercliff who ran a wolf sanctuary and who went all around the country with a couple of wolves to “educate” people about them and dispel the “myths” about them. The farmers used to donate dead cattle for meat. And people wonder why they go after livestock? One of this man’s dogs came to my home to wipe out MY livestock. She had a juvenile with her she was teaching to hu.nt. My little boy was playing outside and had sense enough to hide on the haystack. When she bit into the turkey, I stepped outside to yell at her, she decided to charge at me. My husband dropped the rifle onto my shoulder and said don’t move. She was in mid air when he fired, killed her instantly. The length from nose to tail tip was agood 6 feet or more. Her head was huge and her canines curled into each other to form a clamp. A most excellent tool for holding flesh from getting way.

We called the sheriff and told him what happened and he contacted the wolf sanctuary guy.

When he came after several hours, he was totally pissed off and tried to give us his schpiel reserved for the ignorant. But then the baby popped out of my bed...he was stunned. The baby was sweet and friendly so we held her in the house so he could retrieve her. He realized then that we weren’t haters. He apologised of course. My daughter began going up there a lot and learned to work with the wild wolves. They liked her, and we trained a horse for him.

Neither of us pressed charges against the other and we became respected neighbors.

People have a constitutional right to protect their lives and livelihoods. People need to step up and protect those rights by challenging laws that usurp those rights. It’s even written in federal laws that the states don’t have the right to usurp constitutionally authorized laws.

Thankfully, turkeys have fluffy loose feathers so the wolf only got a mouthful of feathers. Jack’s back was naked but he was otherwise unharmed.

Keep a shovel or backhoe nearby.

[[Ranchers in some states can shoot wolves that attack their livestock. But not in Colorado.]]

No- but they can tickle them to death- just don’t tell anyone- Coroner “It appears to have been tickled to death” Cops “But can you tell for sure?” Coroner “Sorry, no, just an educated guess”

When I was growing up in Oklahoma, we had a 1000 acre cattle ranch in the family. The ranch truck had a rifle rack in the back window that normally had a 30-30 Winchester in on it. The rifle was to deal with predators and occasionally to put down a cow.

In our region, the primary predator was feral dog packs. Larger than a coyote and smaller than a wolf. Sweet rifle but mismatched to the task in our situation since the range was invariably too long for the caliber and iron sights. Between that rifle and an intimidating ranch dog, we largely had to be satisfied with chasing them past the fence line.

Too bad the Ruger Mini-14 and Mini-30 weren't available then. Their Ranch Rifle configuration with a variable scope would have been perfect for everyday carry in the truck.

The west including Colorado has a history of vigilante justice when government will or cannot do its core job.

If a police force that has had its budgets drastically cut and told to not go after any crimes that have no victims or just involve property decides to go after someone who kills a wolf, then there is always trial by jury and jury nullification.

When laws and things get too crazy, society has a way of dealing with them. Some ranchers will be economically harmed, some may even be charged with crimes, some may spend some time in jail, but ultimately things work out.

Anatolian Shepherd vs 10 hungry wolves. And the winner is?

“People in Denver don’t have a clue”..

Absolute truth - and (unfortunately) Denver is where the state government is located...
