Back in 2009, three wolves were responsible for killing 120 sheep in Montana......

If the cattle are in pastures near the house you could use a pack of 5-6 Kangals with spike collars. They’ll run grizzlies off. They kill wolves. I’m surprised the ranchers aren’t doing that.

The scenario of a lone Anatolian Shepherd wandering into a wolf pack ambush is not realistic. A handful of trained Anatolian Shepherds with spiked collars would do just fine against wolves, but would probably never have to face a pack, who would most likely steer clear of them. The ranchers would still lose the occasional livestock animal to stealthy sneak attacks, but the numbers would be manageable.

How bout a wolf pack hunting down Mr Lone Anatolian Shepherd?

How much does it cost to buy, train, maintain a “handful” of Anatolian Shepherds?
