Video has emerged of Donald Trump again praising Vladimir Putin—just as the Russian president was launching his invasion of Ukraine.
The clip, obtained by the Democratic super PAC American Bridge 21st Century, shows Trump calling Putin "very smart" for the steps he had taken in the days before the large-scale military attack on Russia's neighbor. The footage was filmed during a fundraiser at the former president's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which took place on Wednesday evening.
At the event, Trump defended his previous praise of Putin for recognizing two self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine and sending Russian troops to the regions under the guise of "peacekeeping operations."

He is smart. It’s not like he lied. It’s happening all over social media. Blaming Trump for this. In the world of DEMS. If something bad happens it was the fault of the Republican President before them if something good happens they own it. It’s like we’re all in Jr. High.

One can consider one’s enemy smart and respect his abilities without supporting what he is doing. Apparently, Dems are too stupid to know this. Instead, they praise Biden who talks big while giving our enemies (China, Russia, Iran) what they want. Trump did not lose two countries in his first year and a month, Biden did. Dems are mentally ill.
Praise is obviously completely fake news. It’s important to recognize that the guy on the otherside of the table isn’t a monster but has goals, plans, schemes etc. By acknowledging there strengths and failures you can actually strategize to concur, contain, negotiate etc. Policy by cheerleading by rhetoric, one liners etc is exactly why Trump succeeds where all others have failed. Bush - Georgia, Obama - Crimea, Biden - Ukraine. Trump - calm. Putin is a Thug, Tyrant, KGB etc. That’s how all the others tried to contain Russia. Completely failed, all of them.

I look at it like this: I am not a Tom Brady fan, don’t like the guy at all, however I will give him credit for being one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. Possibly the greatest. Does this mean I support him and/or his tactics. No!

Putin is a dictator.
Trump says Putin is very smart.
Trump admires Putin and wishes he could be like him.
Trump will be a dictator like Putin if elected in 2024.

“Smart” does not equal “good”; pointing out someone is smart does not mean that you’re in favor of that person or his actions.
