“And Kasich won the 2016 Ohio primary…

What a non story this is”

I hope you’re not equating DeSantis to piggy Kasich.

“This Ron guy seems popular in Florida, he should run for governor.”

That’s funny right there! They will make a thousand attempts between now and 2022 to pit Trump and DeSantis against each other.

Pay them no mind. I’m certain Trump and DeSantis aren’t.

I’ve never seen folks this excited at the thought of removing
a sitting governor in a state we need to keep under control.

This has the stink of GOPe/RNC all over it.

Ron isn’t chomping at the bit, so it’s clear this is a draft
movement.

Further, by introducing this topic now before the 2022
elections, it’s clear they want the focus off our new
candidates, which will help out Democrat incumbents.

This really angers me.

He literally has zero chance of beating Trump in a primary

I disagree. But first things first. DeSantis needs to get reelected. Then we'll go from there. Right now we are just speculating. We'll know more in 4 months. If DeSantis wins his reelection decisively, he'll get a lot of support to encourage him to run for POTUS.

I can’t remember his name but from what I’ve seen, the Lt. Governor of Texas is more impressive than Abbott. I may be wrong. What do you think?

Trump is not running for Florida Governor, which is DeSantis’ concern.

They seem to have quite few accomplices on FR.

Best to crush the second term and then run.

I don’t understand how this divides us. Only for sycophants, perhaps, who insist everything must be Trump and imply anything else, they may stay home.

Most of us would never stay home rather than vote for the Repub candidate. Ridiculous.

We may have preferences, but most of us aren’t so childish and slavish that we harumph and won’t vote if The Other Guy wins the primary/nomination.

The rintintin/oak007 deja vu ‘DeSantis the Hero’ post:

Step 1 - find poll/article claiming DeSantis will win 2024
Step 2 - share on FR
Step 3 - ignore any comments stating that DeSantis will not run 2024
Step 4 - wait a few days and repeat steps 1-3

The games we play……..

No, I don’t ignore. I’ve asked many times for a link to an article where Desantis says he won’t run in 2024. Every time I ask to see such an article, I get radio silence in return.

The question then is whether those who support either Trump or DeSantis would vote for the other in the general election should the other win a contested nomination.

“ No, I don’t ignore. I’ve asked many times for a link to an article where Desantis says he won’t run in 2024. Every time I ask to see such an article, I get radio silence in return.”

——————————————-

DeSantis has not officially stated ‘I’m not running 2024’ but early on he has made references. See below: Article from June 8, Link below

“ But, despite that DeSantis denied any presidential ambition and declined to respond to WINK News’ repeated questions about whether he was running.

“I dont’ do straw polls, they just put my name in there,” DeSantis said. “What am I supposed to do? They sell merchandise, I kinda like to get royalties on that.”

His supporters liked that joke.

WINK News asked if he was considering running.

With a brief stumble he said, “I don’t… I… I’ve addressed that so many times. So, so go ahead,” then quickly addressed the next question.

DeSantis has repeatedly said he is focusing on his job as governor and that he’s not actively planning a run for the White House in 2024.”

https://www.winknews.com/2022/06/08/is-gov-ron-desantis-running-for-president/

Granted, I only did a quick search and had to scroll past the numerous ‘Let’s divide the republican base by pushing DeSantis’ articles and polls.

Believe what you will but I guarantee that any politician running against Trump will get destroyed. Why? Because primaries are not nice and voters with hurt feelings don’t heal quickly, 2016 Cruz voters as an example. Any MAGA politician that decides to run against Trump cares nothing about the voters and only about their own ambitions. If DeSantis runs, it will split the party 50/50 and the eventual primary winner will be damaged whether it is Trump or DeSantis. Some, including you, believe DeSantis has a better chance of winning the general…..maybe, maybe not. DeSantis hasn’t had the ‘vile media, politicians Trump treatment’ yet. But he will also have Trump scars incurred during the primary and that will be used against him in the general.

So…..think what you will and ponder what a primary will look like before wishing for it. Personally I believe DeSantis would be a fool to run 2024 considering he would have a clear path 2028 and would sweep the primary. And I believe he hasn’t officially ruled out 2024 so he can accumulate a war chest and can keep that option open if Trump doesn’t run. Those that believe he will run are not giving him any credit for ‘being smarter’ than that with his political choices.

DeSantis unequivocally said he won’t run if Trump runs.

You have said this in a bunch of different threads, and repeatedly get asked to support that claim. You never do, and disappear from the thread when people ask you for your proof of that claim.

So, when and where did DeSantis say that, and where's a link to a legit source confirming it?

Ron is only keeping his options open in case Trump doesn’t run in 2024 or is damaged enough that he can’t win. Then he’d possibly jump in. I don’t see him going head to head all things being equal.
