Shove it Vox. I live where and how I want.
Hey Vox, FU.
So what keeps this cretin from moving to a place he would like a lot more? Sheesh. Just pack up and move. Find a new job in your new place. Problem solved.
But NO. Liberals want to tear down the entire country and rebuild it according to their utopian dreams. They want to force their way of life on everybody. They are perfect totalitarians.
Yep
In my county there are a lot of people who are obviously living in that camper parked in the back yard. The clue is the electrical connection, cable antenna and the permanently deployed sections that would be tucked away in normal storage. Oh, and lets not forget the stone patios and lawn furniture under the awning and the extra cars parked nearby.
Some of these are relatives and perhaps some are rented out. But the county government has made the housing expensive and the taxes high. I’m a landlord and every time I list a rental, I get inundated with people desperate to move in. Everything the government has done increases my costs and the rent. The problem is not the people or the market the problem is the government.
Incidentally, having someone live in an RV that is not part of a specially designated RV park is illegal. Every property is assessed a bed tax on the number of bedrooms. I once wanted to write an article about people living this way because some of the arrangements were really nice. But I couldn’t because if it were published then the county or city would swoop in and force them out. In a worst-case scenario, the property owner would be slapped with a fine based on an estimate of how much tax he owed.
I guess the author never saw the underground tunnels / malls that connect several of the larger office buildings in downtown Houston. I used to travel there a lot for work. I could park my car and walk in air conditioning to many appointment in one day.
Suburban sprawl was the antidote for the long hot summers of inner cities. The author should go live in Mumbai or Singapore if he wants that kind of lifestyle. Screw him/her/it
Probably sucks Beto
If he does not like Texas, he is welcome to leave. Go to the leftist utopia of San Francisco and walk around there.
The author could have moved to a rural setting just a few miles from Houston any time he wanted to.
You can’t fix stupid!
Why won’t they serve pedestrians in the drive through windows?
Cells, exercise yard and license plate factory all within spitting distance,..,
,,, sounds like prison, gulag, concentration camps.
In Him Kong we were across from Victoria Park. There were a huge Welcome Supermarket and several malls. We were 4 blocks.from HK stadium. The issue was the noise, the crowds, and the freneticness of it all I was really lonely there because because everyone was so busy. It is easier to talk to neighbors in the Houston condo complex.
Some us like cars more than the vast majority of humans, so ....
Much of Greentown and Promised Land is denser in terms of housing, right next to the state park.
Exactly what I’d expect a Vox Media editor to look like.
I haven’t seen my next door neighbors in 10 months...
He also left out the fact that rent in many of those places is 3-4K per month.
That is a major reason why most people don’t live there. That and the crime.
