Lindsey Graham says he’s ‘confident’ Americans would support national abortion ban

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday expressed confidence that the public would support his 15-week federal abortion ban proposal but acknowledged it does not have the votes to pass the Senate.

“I’m pro-life, even in an election year,” Graham told “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream.

“I am confident the American people would accept a national ban on abortion at 15 weeks,” Graham said. “And to those who suggest that being pro-life is losing politics, I reject that.”

The South Carolina Republican on Tuesday introduced a bill that would prohibit abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy nationwide, carving out exceptions for rape, incest and when the mother’s life is in danger.

The move has attracted criticism from some in his own party, who expressed a desire to leave abortion legislation to states after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade in June.

Last Election, Lindsey proclaimed Hunter’s laptop was Russian Disinformation.

The Media doesn’t point it out, and he’s trying to lose seats this time to steal a Victory from Trump.

He is so wrong it is a shame. People agree with the Supreme Court and the 10th Amendment that regulation belongs to the states. The Federal Government has no say in it. lindsey Graham is just wasting his time getting involved with this. Abortion is morally and seriously wrong, no question, but like homosexuality, it is a matter of conscience.

This seems like a move from a guy who would rather be in the minority party riding the gravy train.

If only this would get him voted out. Does he not understand that most would welcome a more prolife stance, the bigger issue is it being nation wide? We love that it is left to the states to decide. Because whatever you declare one way nationwide can be switched to the other way nationwide.

The way the states handled the abortion issue in some cases has turned off a lot of people, voters, to the republican party. The almost total ban, and some states a total ban, without the state legislatures actually asking people what they wanted has turned a lot of people against the republican party. It could have been handled better and now I believe the republican party will not do as well in the midterm elections as some thought they would.

They might gain some seats in the house but I doubt they will gain enough seats in the senate to control it. I am working in my state to support republican candidates for office but they are spending way too much of their time and resources responding to the abortion question, trumps legal problems and not enough time talking about what they want to do for the country.

Graham sure as he** isn’t doing this country or the republican party any favors with his little stunt. If the democrats hold on or even keep control there will nobody to blame except the leaders of the republican party who totally failed to read the electorate.

If a proposed national abortion ban supercedes in importance the need to fix a f**ked up economy with high inflation, stopping runaway crime in many of our cities and protecting a wide open border in the minds of a majority of Americans then one can put a fork in this nation. We will be finished!

Support for early abortion is very different than for late term.

If you trust the House and the Senate to not legalize late term abortions you must have missed how the Republicans who promised to repeal Obamacare only voted on that bill when they knew their vote would go nowhere. When their vote would have been signed into law by President Trump they suddenly wouldn't vote to repeal Obamacare.

If the federal government regulates abortion you can bet that in a few years that law will read like Planned Parenthood drafted it.

No kidding. Most conservatives just say leave it up to states. Right now there are tons of other issues crushing regular Americans.

Graham is trying to drag Republicans into a fight over abortion that no one asked for, right before the November midterms.

This is purposefully intended to get out the Democratic vote and he knows it.

Abortion is a states rights issue.

I continue my disbelief that the good people of South Carolina haven't dumped this A$$hat.
