uit spamming the board with your “Yay Ukraine” threads. You’re in the minority here, and we’re tired of your paid shill posts.

The impotent rage of a Putinist. But you are NOT the majority. Just a really loud, toxic minority.

Strategic retreat to save men and armor. Ukraine charges forward. Russians are building tremendous reinforced battle forces.

Wait a little longer. Giving up territory to prepare for strategic counterattack is one of history’s repeated maneuvers used by WINNING strategists.

Ukraine is losing men and material it cannot replace.

Even Napoleon understood ground can be retaken and did so often enroute to victory.

Mao was chased across China but later won a lasting victory.

You are delusional. The Russian are running back to unre-enforced positions,(which is why the Ukes are taking so much ground)

How did things work out for Napolean? Mao was FROM China. The Russians fighting here are from Dagestan and Ikutsk and are fighting for NOTHING other than enough Rubles to buy a used Lada..

The ONLY way this invasion would have worked was if Putin had overthrown the Government in the First two weeks. When he didn't the Quagmire clock started.

Ukraine only gets MORE Quagmiry for Putin from here.

Its really weird all the people that say they hate Bush/Neo-cons think "quagmires are good things" - Say it in a Bernie Sander's voice for full effect.

Just Dumb.

None of us have any idea what is happening in Russia because all of the news from Russia has been canceled and shutdown.

What I know is that our country should not be supporting the corrupt Ukrainian regime, nor should we have been allowing NATO to expand beyond its organizational purpose of responding to the threat of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact.

NATO should have been disbanded in 1991 with the fall of the Soviet Union and the collapse of the communist party in the Warsaw Pact nations.

—”Strategic retreat to save men and armor.”

So they left dead and wounded on the field to save some ancient armored vehicles?

No wonder Putin has recruiting problems, reenlistment among the few survivors must be near zero.

Morale, zero; unit cohesion, zero; discipline, zero...

Under these conditions, the scuttlebutt spreads like wildfire. And everyone has a cellphone...

Cathi,

The Russian Artillery grinding down anything ended when the HIMARS and HARMS showed up. The NASAMS and who knows what will show up next will keep the Russians from employing similars systems, even if they had them.

HIMARS are out of Range of Russian Artillery, The HARMS take out the Couter battery RADAR. And the NASAMS will shoot down even more expensive Jets Russia can’t afford. Russia is in a terrible spot and the Mobilized men are nothing but Cannon fodder, now.

Russias looses so far in Men and Material in 7.5 months are 10X what the US lost in Iraq in 19 years (and Russia is 1/2 the Size of the US in Population and 1/10 the GDP). This is Ultra Mega Bush Quagmire.

If you were invested in the Russian conquest of Ukraine, it isn’t going to happen. Move on.

The Borders will go back to Feb 23rd, Russia will pay $Billions to Rebuild Ukraine and when regular Russian find out $100K Russian kids dies for nothing, they will be pissed.

trouble is, the "Soviet Union" may have been legally disbanded in 1991, but the malicious mentality of those in power didn't change ... Russia is the re-incarnation of the old Soviet Union

same police state, same oppression, same support of terror, same threats to its neighbors ... IOW, the menace didn't go away, so THAT'S why we *still* need NATO

We had best not underestimate the reverence the Russians have for "The Great Patriotic War." This effort to drive out fascism will be just as important to them. All of these Ukranskyites advocating our participation in their regional conflict will bring our destruction.

Young Russians want their McDonalds and their I-phones back.

Old Drunk Russians that crap in an outhouse aren't their Future.

You can't drive out Facists with Facism (How the Old Drunk Russians did it)

I guess I have more faith in the Russian people than you do.

I'm Just glad the Ukes want to fight for their own country, so we don't have to. Probably the best Ally ever.

Yes, can’t let things like facts and reality get in the way of your narrative, now can we?

Not everyone here supports evil, tyrannical dictators. You are just going to have to get used to it.

“On the day Putin announced his so-called “partial mobilization” last month, the contracts of soldiers fighting in Ukraine were also automatically extended indefinitely. “Most soldiers had no idea they were going to Ukraine when the war started. They were hoping to get out once their contracts expired. Now that’s simply not possible any more.”

guess they should have paid more attention to the fine print in their contracts ...

Pepe Escobar

Another word from our friend Zornkrieger, who reminds us of what we all need to remember:

The Russians attrited the Ukrainian military for 6 months straight. Relentless artillery on the frontlines and relentless missile attacks in the rear left a Ukrainian force that took 6 entire months to buildup and prepare for an offensive. An offensive that in the end is a hybridized mixture of what’s left of the Ukrainian pre-invasion equipment and rapidly dwindling NATO stockpiles. This bastardization of a military force, while benefitting from a massive manpower advantage, keeps finding itself gasping under relentless artillery, air, and drone strikes as the Russians simply pick up and leave for the next defensive line anytime the Ukrainians get a slight positional advantage. The Ukrainians shockingly enter town after town, failing to encircle and destroy a single Russian garrison, while being decimated in the open.

This exhausting defense is happening, while on the sidelines, the Russians prepare to almost triple their forces in Ukraine in preparation for a deep, final offensive. Russian command once again proves they are masters of the battlefield, denying the Ukrainians this defensive strategy in the first 6 months of the war by crawling from position to position, eliminating any attempts by the Ukrainians to conduct a mobile defense. While the Ukrainians attempt big arrow movements, they fail to do anything but die on their captured ground that the Russians will later encircle a few months from now.

Of course the West and their puppets get to keep their PR and perception victory for now, and sure they infect even some of the Russian people with decreased morale, but in the end, none of it matters. Russian victory was never a doubt, except for in the heads of those giving in to the propaganda.

“There are really only two ways to interpret what is happening. One is the western spin: the Russian army is defeated and depleted and is being driven from the field. Putin is deranged, his commanders are incompetent, and Russia’s only card left to play is to throw drunk, untrained conscripts into the meat grinder.

The other is the interpretation that I have advocated, that Russia is massing for a winter escalation and offensive, and is currently engaged in a calculated trade wherein they give up space in exchange for time and Ukrainian casualties. Russia continues to retreat where positions are either operationally compromised or faced with overwhelming Ukrainian numbers, but they are very careful to extract forces out of operational danger. In Lyman, where Ukraine threatened to encircle the garrison, Russia committed mobile reserves to unblock the village and secure the withdrawal of the garrison. Ukraine’s “encirclement” evaporated, and the Ukrainian interior ministry was bizarrely compelled to tweet (and then delete) video of destroyed civilian vehicles as “proof” that the Russian forces had been annihilated.

Russia will likely continue to pull back over the coming weeks, withdrawing units intact under their artillery and air umbrella, grinding down Ukrainian heavy equipment stocks and wearing away their manpower. Meanwhile, new equipment continues to congregate in Belgorod, Zaporizhia, and Crimea. My expectation remains the same: episodic Russian withdrawal until the front stabilizes roughly at the end of October, followed by an operational pause until the ground freezes, followed by escalation and a winter offensive by Russia once they have finished amassing sufficient units.

There is an eerie calm radiating from the Kremlin. “
