Poltical rivals express similar sentiment in separate interviews; Kyiv's envoy to Israel says defense minister canceled an upcoming call with his Ukrainian counterpart
In a rare expression of units between coalition and opposition figures, Defense Minister Gantz and opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday both expressed an unwillingness to alter Israel's policy of not sending defense equipment to Ukraine.
'We are not selling weapons to Ukraine," Gantz told the ultra-Orthodox Kol Chai radio station, noting instead the humanitarian aid Israel has been providing, and vowing to continue such shipments months into Russia's invasion of Ukraine...
Meanwhile, in an interview on MSNBC on Tuesday, Netanyahu praised the coaltion government's "prudent" approach toward Ukraine, highlighting Israel's absorption of refugees and other humanitarian initiatives.
He also elaborated on Israeli concerns regarding selling weapons to Ukraine.
"On the question of weapons there's always a possibility--and this has happened time and again--that weapons we supplied in one battlefield end up in Iranian hands used against us," the former prime minister told the US TV network, adding that Iranian-backed forces on the Golan Heights often use Israeli-made weapons in clashes with the Jewish state...

The government and opposition in agreement.
Gantz is totally pro-Israel, Bibi, needless to say, is the same. They both want to be sure that Israel can take care of ‘dealing with its neighbors’ REGARDLESS of the threats that the Neocons.
Common sense from the Israelis. Russia is not their enemy, and this is not their war. Why should they get involved?
I’m unsure of the amount of weapons the US supplies to Israel but I would suspect that Israel does not want to ship weapons they will be unable to replace due to our current administration.
Throw in the fact they simply do not want vast amounts of their equipment captured by Vlad or sold off to the black markets. Every nation in the world knows just how corrupted the Ukies are, except for the US.
They even paid attention to Vlad when he said last month “ we have all the capabilities, we haven’t even started”.
Which is now obvious. They are just now turning up the dial with their kamikaze drones, they can switch off the entire Ukraine’s electricity when desired. Vlad is to be admired for his patience and restraint, every military man knows this.
Unlike the “ shock and awe” the US uses, this SMO declaration was a genius move for many reasons becoming obvious.
The world power structures are beginning to change. Israel and Saudi Arabia are finding that they have common security concerns. They no longer trust the United States to oppose and keep their common enemy Iran in check and nuclear free. Saudi Arabia is essentially in the oil business with Russia and makes far more money cooperating with Russia than opposing it. It views Russia as a power that has influence restraining Iran. Israel also shares cultural, business and intellectual ties with Russia. A working Israel/Russia/Saudi cooperation sphere independent of the US makes sense for these nations.
Best not to stay out of Ukrianes affairs - Israel has enough business to take care of on their borders.
Deep down inside, the Israelis know, that if Ukraine ever joined Nato it would become part of the war machine that one day plans to intervene against Israel to give the paleostines their own state as per Kosovo.
Israeli and Saudi failure to support Ukraine or the West may indicate that both countries are hedging their bets in Cold War II. Russia has fallen short of their military goals in this war, but the overall Chinese, Russian, and Iranian goal is to topple what Biden has called the rules based international order, i.e., Western dominance. Additionally, they are minding their own business. Perhaps we should mind ours as well.
I wish the US would do that.
How many Americans are killed by illegals every year via Mexico?”
Mexican fentanyl killed 109,000 last year.
Mexico is far greater an enemy than a Slavic dump vs another Slavic dump.
Perhaps they could poll the permanent residents of Babi Yar, to see what they think.
I agree with Israel's position
Not long ago, we left some never used, sophisticated equipment in Afghanistan,
which weeks later we found on the interweb for sale for high bidder
I am sure the Russians and Chinese would like access to the Israeli equipment
to reverse engineer it, and defeat it !
The leaders of Israel should do what is in their national interest.
In this instance the Israeli government being a neutral player is their best foreign policy position IMO.
However, individual Israelis should be free to voice their opinions and offer humanitarian support to victims of the Russian-Ukraine War.
That’s good to know, but to be clear, no one is SELLING weapons to the welfare state Ukraine. So hopefully this means they aren’t giving them weapons, either. The last thing we need is for this to spill over into a direct war between Iran and and Israel at the same time as the ongoing conflict, which is a much bigger concern than the loss of Israeli technology to the black market, but combined should make it a no brainer.
I was looking for the catch in this myself it is simply this Israel will give Ukraine the ability to detect incoming drones and missiles but no weapons systems.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that today it’s part of my overall news summary on my blog
