Virginia’s GOP lt. governor won’t back Trump in 2024: ‘I just couldn’t’

Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears (R) said on Thursday that she would not support former President Trump running again for the White House if he declares his candidacy, as he is expected to do next week.

Sears told Fox’s Neil Cavuto that Trump had numerous accomplishments with the economy and with public safety, but she said voters said in the midterm elections that they want the Republican Party to have a different leader.

“I could not support him. I just couldn’t,” she said.

Republicans were hoping for a red wave to lead the party to significant gains in the House and Senate in the midterms, but Democrats outperformed polls in many races.

The GOP appears likely to win control of the House, but the margin will be much narrower than expected. Which party will control the Senate is uncertain.

Is she that stupid? Why on earth get into that back and forth two years before an election.

I liked her. I thought she was smart. I was wrong.

Rino’s kill two birds with one stone.

By forcing a fight between Trump and DeSantis, the RINOS will divide the conservatives.

I can already see it here with people claiming if Trump is not the nominee they wont vote, or since the Lincoln Project fags pretend to want DeSantis than DeSantis is a RINO

Cmon folks, lets not fall for it. I will support Trump or DeSantis against Joe Biden.

She’ll come around.
The only reason she’s in office is because of Trump.

Don’t know about her future decisions, but I seem to recall Trump helped her.

The question is not if Trump can beat any Republican in the primary, he can. It’s can he win the general election.

I honestly don’t know but it’s a question that must be asked.

So you can see her possible line of thought. She might think Trump would be the nominee and then lose. That would really be a disaster. Republicans must win 2024.

The upcoming Republican presidential debates may be a bloodbath. Trump took on nearly 2-dozen in ‘16.

Let them jump in. And may the best candidate come out the victor. [That hasn’t always happened, as the establishmentGOP likes to go with ‘it’s his turn’ selectees.]

We will likely seem some old wannabes and a slew of new ones.

Let’s get ready to rumble.

Reminds me of the story of the Ten Lepers in the Bible.

Jesus healed all ten.

Only one came back to say, “Thank You, Lord.”

Good. I want primary voters to have a lot of choices.

“The more the merrier.”

Right now the Republican establishment has two ways to dump Trump.

1) They all get behind one candidate like DeSantis, very early.

2) They run a variety of candidates to spread the delegate count around, then rig the convention against Trump.

Neither strategy will work, but its going to be very fun and entertaining.

I will not support DeSantis under any circumstances, and it has nothing to do with Trump. I'd feel the same way even if Trump announced his departure from politics and endorsed DeSantis.

I know an establishment tool when I see one, and I find it nauseating to hear all this nonsense about DeSantis "standing up from the freedom of Floridians during COVID" by him, his campaign apparatus, and his sycophants. Those of us who remember these things recall that he signed an 'effing stay-at-home lockdown order in 2020 that rivaled the Nazi-like restrictions imposed by totalitarian governments all over the world.
