Virginia’s GOP lt. governor won’t back Trump in 2024: ‘I just couldn’t’

Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears (R) said on Thursday that she would not support former President Trump running again for the White House if he declares his candidacy, as he is expected to do next week.

Sears told Fox’s Neil Cavuto that Trump had numerous accomplishments with the economy and with public safety, but she said voters said in the midterm elections that they want the Republican Party to have a different leader.

“I could not support him. I just couldn’t,” she said.

Republicans were hoping for a red wave to lead the party to significant gains in the House and Senate in the midterms, but Democrats outperformed polls in many races.

The GOP appears likely to win control of the House, but the margin will be much narrower than expected. Which party will control the Senate is uncertain.

but she said voters said in the midterm elections that they want the Republican Party to have a different leader.

So Trumps folks won 90 plus % which means to her the country said we dont want Trump? Gaslighting at its finest. These people are all emotional nutcases.

I can already see it here with people claiming if Trump is not the nominee they wont vote, or since the Lincoln Project fags pretend to want DeSantis than DeSantis is a RINO

If DeSantis decides to run against Trump, he will never get my vote because it will signal to me he is in the pocket of the Globalist/Establishment wing of the GOP.

If by chance he was able to win the Primaries against Trump and gain the nomination, he would never make it out of the General Election as the voting electorate of the GOP base would be fractured.

Let that sink in for a minute or two . . . .

This is why the red wave was a pink mist.

Republicans attack each other, while Democrats gang up to attack Republicans.

In a nutshell: Neil Cavuto, 'nuff said.

Now wheel him on out of here …

Glad she has come out of the closet...
Clearly, a RINO waiting for some publicity...
Sounds like a perfect candidate for the T&F reward...

” she said voters said in the midterm elections that they want the Republican Party to have a different leader.”

I don’t see the midterms as a referendum on Trump. What went wrong? Well we probably lost a few women over the abortion issue, 58% of those 18-29 voted Dem probably because they hope to have Biden do some sort of student loan relief, but mostly I think the Dems just cheated once again on key races. Unless we do more to get rid of voter fraud we’ll have a hard time winning anything no matter who we run.

It’s not a question of who you’ll support against Biden. It’s who you’re going to support in the primary if these two go head to head.

I didn’t know about him signing a lockdown order, that’s just one more reason I don’t trust him. He’s just a slick politician who most likely will just cozy up with the establishment. I also suspect that he is a neocon, and if so he won’t have my support either.

I can’t help it if some conservatives are stupid. Anyone who would refuse to support either of these men as nominee is as dense as John Fetterman.

It may be 2 years before the election, but the primary season is much closer. And apparently, Trump is considering making his announcement very shortly. So if she doesn’t want him to run again, now would be the time to speak up before he makes that announcement.

So what? I won’t necessarily support Trump in the primaries either. If she meant that she won’t support him in the general election — then, there’s a big problem.

Cmon folks, lets not fall for it. I will support Trump or DeSantis against Joe Biden.

Agreed, but DeSantis is going to lose and cuck out at the same time like Cruz did, and so we will have lost a good Governor and gained nothing.
