wondering how those solar panels are doing, given the temps and snow in many States. ditto the wind turbines?

charging your EV?

funny how stories such as the following barely get noticed by the FakeNewsMSM:

1 Sept 2022: CNBC: Amazon took all U.S. solar rooftops offline last year after flurry of fires, electrical explosions
by Annie Palmer & Lara Kolodny
Between April 2020 and June 2021, solar panels atop Amazon fulfillment centers caught fire or experienced electrical explosions at least six different times...
On the afternoon of April 14, 2020, dozens of firefighters arrived at an Amazon warehouse in Fresno, California, as thick plumes of smoke poured from the roof of the 880,000-square-foot warehouse.

Some 220 solar panels and other equipment at the facility, known as FAT1, were damaged by the three-alarm fire, which was caused by “an undetermined electrical event within the solar system mounted on top of the roof,” Leland Wilding, Fresno’s fire investigator, wrote in an incident report.

A little over a year later, about 60 firefighters were called to an even larger Amazon facility in Perryville, Maryland, to put out a two-alarm blaze, local news outlets reported...

In the intervening months, at least four other Amazon fulfillment centers caught fire or experienced electrical explosions due to failures with their solar energy-generating systems, according to internal company documents viewed by CNBC.

The documents, which have never been made public, indicate that between April 2020 and June 2021, Amazon experienced “critical fire or arc flash events” in at least six of its 47 North American sites with solar installations, affecting 12.7% of such facilities. Arc flashes are a kind of electrical explosion...

In 2019, founder Jeff Bezos launched the Climate Pledge, promising the largest online retailer would zero out emissions by 2040, embrace renewable energy and move away from gas-guzzling delivery vans...

Corporate America is under pressure from regulators and a growing subset of investors to set and report on environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals...

Suddenly endless articles calling for energy conservation… just a few weeks ago it’s bans on non electric cars.
We had rolling blackouts in Tennessee this week.
A red state that was.
Is there a state with major nuclear power because obviously living in Tennessee or any of the states on these threads is a danger to your life.

Customers say “BUILD POWER PLANTS. Stop the Green CRAPOLA. Get serious about serving your customers’ needs.”

Now and again I visit friends of mine in western Pennsylvania. I prefer the back roads. My route takes me past a huge abandoned coal-fired power plant. The plant goes on for blocks and blocks. I know it’s coal-fired because of the coal chutes. The buildings looks modern.

Yet it is closed. I wonder if its closure has anything to do with Pennsylvania’s power shortage. 🤔

How do you conserve energy when the entire northeast is freezing below zero?

Just got a text from Duke Energy...

"Duke Energy: Alert! The extremely low temperatures & high energy demand continue to place an unusual strain on the energy grid. Please consider powering down all nonessential electric devices and delaying unnecessary energy use for the next 24-48 hours to help avoid rotating outages in the early morning hours tomorrow and Monday. We understand this is a difficult ask given both the holidays and the cold temps and we are grateful for your efforts. Learn more about how we respond to these grid emergencies and how you can help at duk.us/32. Thank you for your cooperation. Text stop to cancel."

I replied and told them "Screw off. Build more coal-fired generating plants."

We’ve been getting the same requests, from all of our power providers.

I’m old enough to remember when power companies had “spinning reserves” to handle the increased load.

Sorry — We are too busy preventing climate change down here in Texas to help y’all.

Put some WD-40 on those wind energy turbines and pray for daylight to fire up those solar cells.

Maybe the seat warmers in the Tesla will help.

Hope all are safe for Christmas night.

For Christmas, we could all use a gift of new America loving politicians who support our own oil, gas and coal energy resources.

I received notice from Duke Power in NC about an hour ago to turn every unnecessary electrical device off. With a threat of roving black outs in NC over night. Right now, 11:00PM, it’s 21°F. Gonna get cold fast if the power goes off.

Meanwhile, here in Washington state, where our water generated electricity has been mostly Green, abundant, and modestly priced for decades, we are preparing to tear down the largest dam ever de-constructed in the USA.

Our political leadership is insane.
