Looks good on paper, but they know it will never happen.

Yea, I’m not against it. I’m just curious as to the details of it’s application. The article really said little about it.

The Fair Tax is one rate, no picking and choosing.

#1 on my wish list.

I’m all for a General Sales Tax, VAT or whatever does away with the IRS in it’s current form.

Never happen. Dems love the IRS because they can use the IRS to attack political opponents.

Also, losing issue for Republicans. Dems will tell the masses they will be paying a 20% sales tax, and everyone will freak out. Happened before anytime Republicans have mentioned doing away with the IRS in favor of some type of sales tax.

Exactly. That said, this is all posturing/’virtue signaling’. No way this would ever pass. It’s all for show.

Gee, I wonder why they didn't do any of this when they had the House, the Senate, AND President Trump.

OK, no I don't.

Like dry humping on the couch back in your teens. Felt good but didn’t really count.

Yeah, if you mentioned “passing laws to fight climate change” 20 years ago, many here would have laughed.

They can vote all day long on everything under the sun. It won’t get past the Senate, and it won’t get signed by Biden. There only real power right now is investigations. And if they cover everything up for the bad guys then that will be worthless too.

The GOPe is part of the Deep State, and they’ll only push anything so far, then quit.

............lol, the FIRST thing the marxist/socialist legislators, Democrat and RINO’s, will do is exempt lower income folks from the tax.

I feel for poor folks and I put my money where my mouth is each year by buying 80+ kids in a poor neighborhood near me $9,000.00 worth of presents but I strongly believe that poor folks should pay SOMETHING. Part of our problem now is that there is NO RESPECT or love of country among most welfare recipients and GIVING some individual something that the rest of us have to work for only furthers and continues that disrespect.

No worries. I like the fair tax because it only targets those spending money, regardless of how they earn it.

If you’re in a position to buy luxuries or the latest iphone, you get taxed. If you’re trying to save, and not spending money, you aren’t taxed.

Lowest income earners still have the latest gadgets, because our current tax system is based on earned spending potential, not spending or lifestyle habits. They get a break while the actual earners pay their way.

Sounds great and all. Don’t fall for it.
Remember when the GOP had the majority and was going to get rid of Obamacare?
Yep. We still have Obamacare, don’t we.

” If this is a tax paid on purchases of items or services, this hits the lower income people the hardest.”
*****************************************************

Depends how it’s enacted, essentials like food would likely remain exempt similar to how food is exempt from sales tax now. Personally I wouldn’t necessarily get rid of all income tax, I would still allow a flat income tax on those making over a certain amount, say $200k, or tax capital gains over a certain amount. A consumption tax by itself could very likely put more of a burden on the poor.

It basically won’t get through the Senate. Biden doesn’t have to worry about it.

But it’s still a good idea, as long as they keep the tax to less than 10 percent. Apparently, if it goes above that, people start to shift to a black market. Neil Boortz was way too optimistic that a fair tax of 30% on top of the product price wouldn’t be evaded.
