No it f***ing isn't the "End of discussion." As I pointed out in my earlier messages, the right lane is often very sh*tty, and the only way you can drive without having your teeth rattled out is to move over into the left lane.
As for "passing lane" that is just a convention. It is perfectly reasonable for people who want to pass to move over into the sh*tty teeth rattling right lane, and pass to their heart's content.
Also, when driving into a big city, *BOTH* lanes are always filled, so what now fellow?
Exactly. I would drive in the right lane all the time. Except you constantly have to speed up and slow down then switch to the left lane and switch back to the right as you go around slower cars.
I prefer to do 10 mph over the speed limit in the left lane. If someone wants to go 15 or 20 over, fine. Let them do the switching and swerving and go around me.
I was following an old guy who was in the left lane matching the speed of the car in the right lane next to him at about 5 mph BELOW the speed limit. to my left was the HOV lane, but I didn’t have anyone else in the car. I waited for him to speed up or slow down, but no soap. I then passed him in the HOV lane He got really pissed about it blew the horn and speeded up to get behind me, but I was willing to go faster than he was and left him behind. All I can say is that he was deliberately being an a$$hole and trying to get on peoples’ nerves.
Some interstates in some parts of the country see more extreme temperature changes seasonally, leading to concrete buckling, as well as just uneven settling of the segments. The repair work, which can take years if its hundreds of miles of freeway, is usually done one lane at a time (for obvious reasons). So if the left lane has been built or repaired more recently than the right lane by a decade or more, switching lanes can be a world of difference in noise, vibration, and car wear and tear.
Then you would get a ticket.
Please can you tell me anyone you know who has ever been ticketed for driving slow in the passing lane?
Increasing fine for something no one ever gets ticketed for is pointless
I can just see it. So will they ticket cars going the speed limit for driving too slow in the left lane? Penalties for NOT speeding? :)
LOL. In some states it may go, I got stopped for 80 in a 60mph zone for driving too slow. lol
Just put a speed limit/minimum sign on each side of the road.
Correct. If there are only two lanes, then there is no fast lane. There is no passing lane. Actually it’s probably worse to drive in the right lane as you’re constantly having to speed up or slow down for cars that are trying to merge on or get off.
Yes, please.
Which happens all the D@mn time. The law isn't clear about this. I recall one time I pointed it out to someone and asked them what the law says about it.
They didn't have an answer. Clearly it was stupid and ridiculous for all the traffic in the left lane to try to cram itself into the right lane.
Attempting to make this happen would have caused wrecks and injuries. Thankfully the people have more sense than idiots writing laws without thinking through the consequences.
Yeah, this shouldn’t be legal to allow vague non-signed targeted enforcement. It’s BS.
Idiots on their phone driving down the highway deserve the NASCAR treatment --- put their asses right into the wall (or ditch).
I couldn’t recall the right word in my previous post...
‘Expansion joints’ was what I should have said. I think there have been some improvements over the years in making expansion joints ‘better’ from a drivers perspective. Its not anything I know anything technical about though. I’ve only mixed some mortar for a few back yard projects before.
The right lane was open, but it was very unpleasant to drive in it.
They did the same thing on I95 and I66....in Virginia.
Not really. In most cases I am passing a car in the right lane as I’m doing 10 over. Someone doing 20 over is the one who is going to get a speeding ticket.
lol +1
State troopers can multitask; remember the goal is fund raising
The fine should be doubled if the car is a Prius. Those drivers seem to think they can drive in any lane at any speed because “they are saving the planet.”
I’ve always wondered if it’s illegal to drive at exactly the speed limit in the left lane.
+++++++++++++++++++++
Probably, but if it impedes traffic, it makes you an ********.
