Lifting sanctions intrinsic part of Ukraine peace settlement: Moscow

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Saturday indicated that lifting all anti-Russia sanctions and canceling all claims against Moscow in international judicial instances should be an intrinsic part of a peace settlement in Ukraine.

-snip-

"the cancellation of all illegal sanctions and lawsuits against Russia in international courts should become an integral part [of this settlement]," Zakharova said in a statement.

It is noteworthy that on Friday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as Russia’s Children’s Rights Commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, on the grounds of alleged "unlawful deportation" of Ukrainian children to Russia.

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stated that Russia is not a party to the ICC and its jurisdiction is not recognized by Moscow, therefore, any of its decisions against the country are null from the legal point of view.

removing the sanctions will be the last step of the peace process

and it won’t happen at all until the last invading Russian soldier leaves Ukraine

Lifting of sanctions can occur, but, Russia must pull out of Ukraine unconditionally and return all prisoners (including the abducted children) and pay for reparations of Ukraine.

Simple enough.

Now that our ‘sanctions’ have resulted in the likely upcoming death of the PetroDollar and pretty much got the OTHER 85% of the world to team up against the West (at least economically), I suspect that we’ll be lifting our ‘sanctions’ far earlier than the Neocons may wish.

just the fact that Russia is demanding the sanctions be lifted,

PROVES that they are effective

She is trolling. Nobody is leaving and the sanctions remain.

Ukraine will never negotiate or talk to Putin now. Xi Jinping faces potential public embarrassment shaking hands with an indicted war criminal and loss of face.

“removing the sanctions will be the last step of the peace process

exactly

the very first thing demanded from Ukraine will be that every single russian soldier is out of their country. And there will need to be a few weeks to verify that completely

Super effective. USD is now less than 60% in global reserves compared to 90%+ three decades ago, Saudis also abandoned pertodollar for Yuan, crashing the post-WWII financial system. And USD is not a preferred tradeethod internationally anymore. All good news for a country with $33 trillion in debt, pretending to be a global leader it was.

Unlike the neoconned political naifs on this thread, I see the Russian demands for the lifting of sanctions as a sign that the Russians are done talking, and the brakes are off on the crushing of the Ukraine.

Because they know that the neocons worms provoking this mess will NEVER agree to the lifting of sanctions and returning the pirated money.

yes, exactly this

First putin meets Ukraine’s demands, then there can be talk of lifting sanctions

The lessons of history are clear. This war must continue until Russia unconditionally surrenders. Its empire dissolved and its elites prosecuted.

Anything else is only a pause giving Russia a couple of decades to rearm and try again.
