Feds give professors $5.7M to develop tool to combat ‘misinformation’

A group of professors is using taxpayer dollars doled out by the federal government to develop a new misinformation fact-checking tool called “Course Correct.”

National Science Foundation funding, awarded through a pair of grants from 2021 and 2022, has amounted to more than $5.7 million for the development of this tool, which, according to the grant abstracts, is intended to aid reporters, public health organizations, election administration officials, and others to address so-called misinformation on topics such as U.S. elections and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.

The GOP's complicit agreement to turn the governing of our country over to federal bureaucrats, including the power of the purse, has contributed greatly to the destruction of our country. Our tax dollars are used to fund censorship in the name of "grants" to favored organizations.

THIS is the nature of the deep-state.

A massive, bloated, unaccountable, fed.gov that has become highly politicized - and runs itself without oversight from Congress, who wrote broad laws transferring vast regulatory power to Fed.gov agencies and apparatchiks.

Feds give millions to help promote their lies and misinformation and suppress the truth.

I really don’t think $5.7 m is enough to keep professors mouths shut.

I’m just curious how this tool would work. Seems like it’d be telling me a dozen times a day that my wife is providing misinformation to me.

Failed government and academic "experts," and lying media, having broken and lost our trust, now want to peddle a replacement to simple trust. "Trust us" once broken cannot be replaced by "trust us some more" run on some "program."

Those having wasted massive sums of money are wasting more, expecting that simple trust, earned and not mandated, is not a "fact checker's" nor "debunker's" province.

If we persist in pretending some earthly authority is the arbitrator of truth we will find ourselves on the path to Hell.

Combating misinformation is called “discussion”. It’s supposed to come with your $60K tuition payment each year.

We’d be better off if all universities were shut down completely and the “professors” thrown out on the streets. Open schools like trade schools that train only for the jobs desired like trade schools. Medical schools for doctors. Engineering schools for engineers. No more BS from universities where kids get to extend their childhood and professors get to soak the kids with nondischargeable lifetime shackles.

--- "We'd be better off if all universities were shut down completely and the “professors” thrown out on the streets."

A nice first step is to take the federal and state governments out of the student loan business (a scam pushed by Obama, unsurprisingly) and return to tuition paid for up front and in cash or through commercial loans which cannot be "forgiven" by political jackasses.

Were that alone to happen, universities would soon find themselves subject to the basic laws of economics. The bureaucrats would be among the first to be sacked.

Considering all the people parroting the fruit of depraved minds I would counter that for many “have found (but just don’t realize it) themselves on the path” would be more accurate.

Because USA citizens are too dense to know the difference.

Problematically, the shoe fits with a large section of citizenry.

The topic “COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy” doesn’t sound biased at all.

"Total violation of 1st Amendment"

Thank you for mentioning that imabadboy99.

Patriots, the bottom line is this imo. What is your threshold of “pain” for peacefully stopping unconstitutionally big state and federal governments controlled by bully, constitutionally undefined political parties, from oppressing the people under their boots?

The inevitable remedy for ongoing, post-17A ratification, corrupt political party treason (imo)...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.
