Furious Trump glares into the camera and shakes his fists as judge sets Stormy Daniels trial for March 25, 2024 - in the middle of the GOP primaries and months before the presidential election

Donald Trump threw his hands in the air in fury during a virtual appearance in a Manhattan court on Tuesday as a judge scheduled the Stormy Daniels 'hush money' criminal trial for March 25, 2024.

It means the former president will be in a Manhattan courtroom for weeks in the middle of the Republican primaries and just months before the presidential election.

The court day lies just weeks after the 'Super Tuesday' primaries set for March 5, and days after Florida's March 19 contest that will pit Trump against Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump, 76, scowled into the camera during a Zoom appearance as Judge Juan Merchan told him to cancel all commitments during the trial and put a protective order in place banning him from sharing evidence in public.

He made the appearance as it was revealed his main rival in the GOP race, DeSantis, would formally announce he is running for President in a Twitter Spaces on Wednesday night.

A visibly-irritated Trump, wearing a blue suit against a backdrop of American flags at his Mar-a-Lago estate, turned to his lawyer during the appearance

'President Trump is running for President of the United States and is the leading contender,' his attorney Todd Blanche told the judge. 'He is very much concerned that his 1st Amendment rights are being violated.'

The charges are related to a $30,000 payoff to a doorman trying to sell information about a child that Trump allegedly fathered out of wedlock; $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, and a $130,000 payment to Daniels.

Trump had pleaded not guilty last month to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records at his family company, the Trump Organization.

Keep DeSantis as a backup. But just remember they can just as easily destroy DeSantis or any other Republican at will. No Republican will ever be allowed to march to a general election without them being destroyed by the media/Derp State (or being a puppet/ringer, a la McQueeg and Willard the Rat).

Can he move it to the US Supreme Court because the NY Supreme Court is attempting to influence an election?

“ We need an Electable Conservative on the ballot.”

No, you need someone who is willing to take a wrecking ball to the U.S. government.

An “Electable Conservative” making his deals atop the massive edifice of the fascist U.S. government is a meaningless gesture. They will be owned and operated by the structure itself, just like the current doddering empty suit.

We have reached a point where only destruction on a massive scale will provide any opportunity at self-government for the people.

So true and DeSantis needs to watch his step or he may find himself on the wrong side of the bench at Gitmo.

I would like to see an explanation for that as well. They charged him with falsifying documents but I thought it had to be in the furtherance of another crime to be a felony.

March 25.

Stormy Daniels. A woman of ill-repute.

So many negative waves. Yet it’s a crazy, flipped over story.

It’s the Feast of the Annunciation, commemorating ‘the visit of the archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, during which he informed her that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ..’

🍿🤡

It’s all part of a plan. The best revenge would be for Trump to win!

Even if true, what the hell is criminal about that???

It will be interesting to hear what Trump’s primary rivals will say about this. Some of the 2%-ers might feign some outrage, but I expect DeSantis’s response to be some nuanced version of what his supporters here on this forum, have offered (i.e. All the court cases make Trump unelectable).

“To all the Trump-or-Die FReepers, remind me again why we don’t want to consider DeSantis?”

Glad to oblige. Trump is the much better leader.

I don’t have to be reminded why some gutless individual like you doesn’t want to fight and will gladly submit and allow the America-haters to choose our candidate.

Because Desantis stands no chance at victory. He’s another generic gop white guy to the vast country.

Conservatism won’t win elections at a federal level anymore, and hasn’t since Reagan.

I thought it had to be in the furtherance of another crime to be a felony.

It's a bullshit process crime.

Remember Martha Stewart? Did time for insider trading? Right?

WRONG!!!

The feds ended up with no evidence that she had committed insider trading.

They got a conviction for lying to Federal Investigators.

What was the "lie"?

Denying that she had committed insider trading.

Ain't that a crock ...

But it gives her some street cred with Snoop ... so there's that. ;'}

This case has multiple Constitutional deficiencies. As do many of the J6 cases. I wonder why they haven’t appealed more forcefully.

I wonder if the lawyers involved are deep state people just pretending.

I’m backing whoever runs for the GOP, but the left will destroy DeSantis and his family if it comes to that.

That reminds me of the 2008 election with John McCain. I literally held my nose and closed my eyes when voting for him... as I was merely hoping Obama to lose. I usually end up voting for the guy who would be the lesser of two evils.

Because Desantis stands no chance at victory.

He's getting a taste of the treatment Trump got in 2016: on aol.com, he's featured in a news blurb with a photo that makes him look like a dork.

“wrecking ball” - I am sympathetic but almost everything you want to be the wrecking ball’s target to wreck will require legislation. A president can only do so much with EOs. Personally i would prefer a president to be able to do little with EOs. No president should ‘rule by decree’. EO power should be dramatically scaled back! The Rats want ‘kings’ providing its their ‘king’. I would hope conservatives don’t. I think Trump was surprised to find out the chief executive of the US is not at all like a CEO of a corporation. To make BIG CHANGES he’ll need Allies in Congress, hopefully we can elect enough MAGA conservatives and those already have the fear of MAGA in them if the want to continue their careers. We’ll see!

Trying harder and harder to push people for DeSantis. I see them arresting Trump for something. After the election he will be proven innocent in some cases and others will be dropped or dismissed.

The argument they are trying to make is that the falsification of records was to hide an illegal campaign contribution. Unfortunately for them, the FEC already looked at this and said no campaign violation occurred. So the prosecutor is probably going to try to argue that even if the FEC didn’t charge him with a federal violation that he violated state campaign finance laws. U fortunately for them again, since this Trump was running for federal office, state laws would not apply.
