Former Attorney General Bill Barr pushed back on former President Trump’s characterization of the special counsel’s documents probe as politically motivated and said he thinks the public eventually will come to realize the former president’s culpability.
“Over time, people will see that this is not a case of the Department of Justice conducting a witch hunt,” Barr said in an interview on CBS Tuesday. “In fact, they approached this very delicately and with deference to the president, and this would have gone nowhere had the president just returned the documents. But he jerked them around for a year and a half.”
Special counsel Jack Smith is leading an investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents, some of which were discovered in an FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago home after Trump repeatedly refused to turn the documents over to federal officials once he left the White House.

It absolutely is....I find it funny when they say they got Trump on tape and my question is, how many 1000s of hrs of audio do you have of Obama since he left the white house? The country is basically done...probably with or without Trump...he has an outside chance of slowing it down if he can get in.

The only reason why CBS allows him on the air is because they want and expect him to bash Trump, among other Republicans. How often do they invite Trump supporters and defenders onto their shows?
And Barr knows he’ll never be allowed on the air if he were ever to say anything positive about Trump.

A president can declassify anything he wants. So yes, it is a witch hunt
Trump declassified all the docs in his possession. He is fundamentally incapable of wrongfully possessing classified documents from his time in the presidency. This is explicitly part of the Presidential Records Act.
The courts have come down so hard in favor of the presidential privilege here that Bill Clinton intentionally and knowingly removed very sensitive , highly classified tape recording and hid them in his sock drawer.
The courts set the precedent that that Clinton's egregious abuse of power fell within the purview of what was permissible under the records act and let Clinton keep them with impunity and no sanctions.
That's just the way it it is. Trump is in the clear and has done nothing wrong.
Barr knows this and he is a lying POS.
The audio tape in question was made by PDJT’s own staff—it’s not the product of tapping his phone.
His staff had concerns that the reporting on him was consistently inaccurate (ya think?), so they started keeping records.
