Col McGreggor had a great observation. In WWII we had 12 million men under arms and sixteen 4 star or higher Officers.

Now we have a force of barely over a million and I count FORTY who are 4 star or higher.

Brown's statement is disjointed. He talks about concerns over political influence and then about balancing family and professional considerations. Those two subjects are disconnects which raises questions about Brown's own competency.

Says the guy who has been the beneficiary of that political system, as has virtually every other GO for the last 25 years. I realized when I was a Colonel’s and head to deal with the highest levels of the Air Force Judge Advocate lGeneral’s Corps that two people at the top made all the career decisions. So promotions are delayed a few months, it will have no effect on retention. My promotions to 1LT and Captain were delayed too, in 1979 and 1981, thanks to Carter and the Democrats.
