Former Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) said Friday on “CNN This Morning” that 50% of Republican primary voters did not want former President Donald Trump to win the GOP nomination.
Anchor Abby Phillip said, “I want to ask you about Ron DeSantis, who is running second in the Republican primary for that nomination. You had said recently that DeSantis’ campaign was dropping like a rock and close to over. There has been a lot of talk about a potential reset there. Where do you think he stands now? Do you think he can turn things around?”
Hogan said, “He, obviously, got the message and I think I was correct that the campaign was in turmoil and they were dropping and now they have decided they have to kind of retool the entire campaign and rebuild it from the ground up.”

This is true. I can think of some hypothetical person I’d prefer who is an amalgamation of Trump’s and some other’s better qualities, so I guess in theory I am among the 50% who prefer some other candidate. The problem is that that candidate is not running.
What planet is this guy living on? Trump is even more popular.

Hogan and Christie have a better chance of winning a Sumo wrestling match than a primary.
1) That’s likely a lie. Perhaps it’s true in Mary Land, where the NE Republicans rule the roost, but it certainly isn’t the case nationwide.
2) Even IF it is true nationwide, that means that 50% DO want Trump - and since there is more than one candidate opposing him, he wins the nomination in a landslide.
3) Even IF it is true, then at least 80% don’t want DeSantis. It is easy to turn around Hogan’s statement to burn anybody else a LOT worse than he thinks that he’s burning Trump.

FWIW, IMO, due to the BIZARRE efforts to stop President Trump from running, combined with his claim that he "caught them all"-I now assume anyone against Trump is into some sort of criminality/corruption or they're a closet pedo.
Neither Republicans nor Democrats win elections.
Independents do. And, FR gets this wrong, Independents are not “between” Republicans and Democrats. They are not profoundly moderate.
What they care about is the Swamp. And Building The Wall. They care little about abortion. They are not major gun advocates or opponents. They care about issues the GOPe does not want anyone caring about. They care about Trump issues.
Trump needs to court them with his original message. Those voters were Obama voters. They didn’t suddenly become GOP voters. They became Trump voters. They, like Trump, seek upheaval.

He’ll win the primaries easily, and with more than 50% in most states since DeSantis is not a serious threat — but DeSantis will still probably do better than people in online cult echo chambers think he will, at least until he drops out — and the remaining candidates never did have any chance.
Now if Krispy Kreme 2.0 (as if we need more than one around) had said *general* election voters, he’d be right on the money.
Hogan has no idea what 50% of Republicans want. He may know what some of his fellow never Trumpeers want or don’t want but he is clueless about the rest.

There are MANY, MANY, man on the street videos on Tic Toc I can not believe the absolute swell of support for Trump with black male voters!! I think that all of this law fare against Trump is drawing the black male voters to him, they see him as being the same as them being chased by law!! The Dems have made a HUGE mistake with this law fare BS!! This is blowing up in their faces!!
