DeSantis: Two-Tiered Justice System ‘Got Worse’ on Trump’s Watch
Breitbart ^ | July 31, 2023 | IAN HANCHETT

During an interview with the Fox News Channel aired on Monday’s broadcast of “Special Report,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that there are two standards of justice, and “Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp.” DeSantis also predicted that Trump would have a “very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need” to take down the administrative state.

DeSantis said, “Well, this is why we say there [are] two standards of justice. If Hunter were a Republican, he’d be in jail by now. You look at all of this smoke, and yet, the FBI, where [are] the search warrants? Where is the grand jury? Where’s the aggressiveness that they’ve shown going after some Republicans? You just don’t see it.”

He added that the treatment of former President Trump is another example of the two tiers of justice and stated that with the Mar-a-Lago raid, they “went through everything they could to get any piece of information. They are not doing that with Hunter. Of course, they didn’t do it with Hillary back in 2016. So, we look at that. But look at all of the possible corruption. Hunter, he’s selling paintings for over a million dollars. My six-year-old daughter does better paintings than him, maybe we’ll put ours up and see what kind of things she can fetch. I don’t think we’re going to get a million dollars on it. We will go in there and we will make all of this stuff better very, very quickly.”

DeSantis continued, “And, look, Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp. My worst critics and

“My strategy will work, but Trump didn’t do it. Why?”

The acting appointments have to be Senate confirmed, even if it is for other jobs, like Ric Grennell.

So the pool was from McConnell-Senate approved appointments who were also MAGA and knew enough about some other area to be effective - a very small group.

McConnell and Burr initially blocked Redcliffe.

McCain said he would vote against anyone except Wray.

Well, this guy is continuing to destroy himself. This is yet another narrative he is creating that would actually harm his own chances of winning a general election if he were to somehow get nominated. If Trump made things so bad, then how is it Biden’s fault? How could DeSantis run against Biden?

This is not the DeSantis that ran and won governor both times in Florida. He has morphed into making boilerplate political arguments.

If he was counting on Trump voters switching to him, he badly misjudged. Insulting DJT was just dumb. Many told him to wait till 2028.
The others, seeing what they think is Trump losing, have also badly misjudged.

And supported by all the RINOs in his bid for POTUS.

While Reagan was hated by the RINOs.

Opus?

"We need to be honest about this and tell Trump he screwed up on his picks..."

You do know that Mitch McConnell blocked Trump from making any recess appointments, don't you? McConnell deliberately refused to formally recess Congress for that express reason.

Your strategy wouldn’t work for two reasons:

1. Interim appointments can only be in place for limited periods of time — I think 300 days in most cases. What kind of person is going to accept a position under those limitations? You’re likely going to be limited to retirees, recent high school graduates, and circus clowns.

2. Most executive branch departments have internal succession and replacement protocols written into the law. Once you get through the Deputy and Associate Deputy and senior appointed posts, you end up with someone in an acting cabinet capacity who is a career Swamp bureaucrat anyway.

"DeSantis is an ass. He’ll never be president."

I certainly agree with that. I think he's destroyed any future political career he thought he might have. At this point, I doubt he'd even carry his own State.

I watched the entire interview with Brett Baer. Baer asked tough questions. DeSantis was authentic, articulate and substantive. DeSantis reminded the audience that until Nov. 1, 2022, Trump was praising him as one of the country’s best governors. Three days after the election, Trump turned on him with a vengeance and unloaded $25M in despicable attack ads (from the left!).

He called Desantis’ pro-life legislation “too harsh”. When Desantis sent illegals to Martha’s Vineyard, Trump was eerily silent. Trump lent support to Disney’s LGBT agenda.

I understand that a large contingency of Trump loyalists on FR feel duty bound to parrot his every utterance. This morning, it was reported that Trump is getting cash strapped from $42m in legal expenses that is sure to grow in the coming months (not to mention a lot of time off the campaign trail while tied up in various courts).

I like Trump fine, but I also like winning elections. The NYT/Seina poll just out shows Trump with a wide lead in the GOP nominating contest, but it also shows him tied with Biden 43-43. Nothing excites and inspires Democrat turnout (especially in the swing states) like Trump on the ballot.
