EVs are the Bud Lite of vehicles.
Tell that to ford.
I think they really work well for only a certain smaller subset of drivers. I think many don’t get incredible benefits they think they will/are told they will. Everything mechanical suffers from problems and the reality is so do these cars, and more and more people are experiencing them, they cannot be brushed away as exceptions.
It’s only going to get far worse...as people figure out that there will be virtually no used EV market.
And all these car-makers are stuck with cars nobody wants.
That’s the thing. Battery motors have their place, and for things like mowing are superior when we are talking small lawns. But the technocrats don’t know when to stop.
Auto manufacturers love that EV batteries are dead within 10 years.
As I’ve posted, studies show 95% of all EV’s are still on the road today. The other five percent made it home and are waiting to complete their charging.
People pushing them and all the other the “green” crap are criminals of the first degree.
These are people who can afford mistakes and indulgences, luxury games that $30,000 and $40,000 a year people can’t afford to play.
Intelligent ICE auto makers certainly love that. Those that hold out will live long and prosper. I can’t wait for the virtue signalers to bite the dust.

I just checked cars.com. There are 186 used Rivians for sale. All 2022 and 2023 models. There are 1300 Teslas for the same date range. Imagine how bad a vehicle would need to be to want ti dump an $80K car within a year of buying it.

The dirty secret of EVs is that most of them, especially by “Early Adopters” are bought by affluent families who own multiple vehicles.
The miles driven on these things tends to be very low. They are a wokeness display device so, of course, you are going to drive your EV to the Sierra Club board meeting, or the Planned Parenthood fundraiser, or the meet and greet with your local Democrat Congressman.
But these are affluent families with large detached houses, and multi-vehicle garages, so there is a G Wagon or Range Rover as well as an S class parked in the garage, out of sight when not in use.

Easy answer: Because they have already SENT THEIR MESSAGE, which is that THEY CARE and YOU DO NOT CARE.
Now that the purpose of their EV purchase has been achieved, it’s time to move back to something practical.
Retired and we take the wifes car for outings. I would take a free EV for my need to go to the grocery store or nursery.
There is a lot of FUD on both sides of the EV vs ICE debate. It is playing out just like other acceptance scenarios of technology. Same happened for personal computers, smart phones, etc.
Early adopters had lots of money to indulge on new technology, such as spending $20,000 for a personal computer. Over time, the computers got better and cheaper in cost, to the point where almost everyone has one and can get one for $200 (one-hundredth the original cost).
Same is happening with EVs. Early adopters paid dearly for them, despite being flawed and lack of charging facilities. But acceptance levels are rapidly rising, and percentage of EV sales have risen to more than 11 percent worldwide. Here in the USA it's about 7 percent. They're flawed in comparison to ICE vehicles, but getting better and cheaper. The point is, within 5 years they will be affordable by the masses, perhaps cheaper than ICE vehicles to operate.
I think authorities are stupid to ban ICE vehicles, as they continue to provide better usage than EV's. Best thing is to allow both, and let the markets decide what is wanted.
