The Biden administration has been blasted over plans to send out a letter to many of the major news organizations across the country demanding they probe the 'lies' of the House GOP's impeachment inquiry.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced an official impeachment inquiry on Tuesday over allegations of corruption and involvement in son Hunter's business dealings, setting off fiery reactions from Democrats.
Ian Sams, a special assistant to the president and senior advisor to the White House Counsel's Office, penned a letter to both conservative and liberal-leaning outlets, slated to be distributed Wednesday in an apparent attempt to influence their coverage. Among outlets targeted are CNN, the New York Times, the Associated Press and Fox news.
'It's time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,' Sams wrote.
Sams added the impeachment inquiry should 'set off alarm bells for news organizations,' but commentators both left and ring-wing have condemned the interference.
Journalist Matthew Keys tweeted: 'This is not okay. The White House should not be encouraging, influencing or interfering in the editorial strategies of America's newsrooms, including CNN and the New York Times.
Keys added: 'The media is the problem. The bigger problem, at the moment, is what the White House is apparently planning to do, if Oliver Darcy's reporting is correct (I have no doubt it is).
'And that is the kind of short-sighted move that gets Donald Trump re-elected next year.' He was referring to CNN's media reporter Oliver Darcy, who first broke news of the letter.
The White House is demanding the news media avoid what Sams and the Bidens believe is false equivalency reporting.
'Covering impeachment as a process story – Republicans say X, but the White House says Y – is a disservice...

The TURDS IN THE PUNCHBOWL have been here since before 2000.
Looks like they gotta secret, dont it?
And I’m sure the letter will be signed by Mitch McConnell, Thune and Cornyn along with Fat Christie and that unknown guy from Arkansas who gets a lot of press and hovers at less than one percent of the vote.
Greasing the grease that helped foisted him upon us.
Im tide o dis!
FTA——’House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct,’ Speaker McCarthy said. ‘Taken together these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption, allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. And they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. That’s why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,’ he noted.
‘This logical next step will give our committees, the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. That’s exactly what we want to know the answers.’
House investigators are expected to issue subpoenas for the bank records of the president and his family. =====================================================
Republicans have charged Biden and his family made millions off shell companies Hunter Biden formed when his father was vice president. Hunter had business deals with an energy company in the Ukraine, received a discounted stake in a private-equity firm in China, and did consulting for a Romanian real-estate magnate.
The president has denied any involvement in his son’s business dealings. But Republicans claim at least a dozen Biden family members could be involved in a scheme to benefit financially from Biden’s public office.
The GOP also claim Biden sat in on at least 24 calls with Hunter’s influence peddling business partners and was referred to as ‘the big guy’ by Hunter’s business associates. And they say Joe Biden used pseudonyms to discuss his activities related to Ukraine with his son Hunter during his time as vice president.
What’s to bribe? The MSM is already bed with the Biden administration.
Republicans may want to talk to Hunter’s onetime associate Eric Schwerin since emails from Hunter’s hard drive show Schwerin moving money on behalf of Joe and Hunter while helping the latter handle family expenses. Schwerin received Joe Biden’s “Delaware tax refund check” while he was vice president and he and Hunter talked by phone about Joe Biden’s mortgage.
In February 2014, Hunter advised Schwerin to describe himself as a “close confidant and counsel” to his VP dad WRT a letter of recommendation Schwerin was penning on Joe Biden’s behalf.
“I would tone down the ‘he and my son’ parts,” Hunter wrote. “I think it’s better to just focus on the fact that you have been a close confidant and counsel to him.
The Post reported 2/23 that Eric Schwerin was involved in the transfer of Joe Biden’s Senate papers to the U of Delaware in March 2010 — which may have included “sensitive” and “classified” documents.
conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding?
obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding?
Yeah, same thought here. The (liberal) media will publicly decry the WH attempt, but will dutifully follow orders.
Sounds fascist, doesn’t it.
Govt cant openly censor free speech so they lean on corporate-media to do it.
That’s a classic definition of fascism.
I suspect this to be accurate. Among the "generals" who endorsed Biden for 2020 was retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, whose opinions are noted in some threads, this an example among others. Ditto with the ISW lobbyists and their retired generals.
Limbaugh was clever in calling some of those who used a ruse of some sort to enter into his talk show "seminar callers." I suspect that today's "seminar callers" are of the same mold.
““Can’t they be bribed?
They can be intimidated, which seems to the point.“
They haven’t learned anything. Perhaps an honest judge, if one can be found, can explain recent decisions to them.
The whole thing is for show anyway. I’m sure that appropriate calls have been made to the right people via burners long before “letters” were sent.
Will the lamestream media find out who brought the cocaine to the WH ?
Looks like they gotta secret, dont it?

Well, there is probably the biggest question... Let’s forget about “what did Maobama know and when did he know it...”. How about “What was Maobama’s role in Bye-Done’s malfeasance?”.... starting with “was he the leader, the partner or the follower in the criminal activity.”
Republicans should also talk to Biden’s niece Casey Owens - his sister’s child - who aided and abetted Hunter’s influence peddling business.
While she was a privileged tax-paid employee in the Obama admin’s Treasury Dept - she spilled sensitive govt info she was privy to, colluding with influence peddler Hunter Biden, WRT China’s largest govt wealth fund.
Hunter later followed up Casey's influence-peddling tip as a potential investment opportunity, according to emails on his abandoned “laptop from hell.”
Casey should also be asked what Obama knew about this.
Nice revisionist thinking.....thx.
Eric Schwerin (left above) had a friendly relationship with the scandal-plagued cokehead Hunter for years and served as the managing director of their investment firm Rosemont Seneca Advisors......they may have first met while working in the Commerce Dept of the Clinton admin.
Schwerin was also part of Hunter’s lobbying shop, Oldaker, Biden & Belair, from 2002-2008, disclosure forms show.
Prior to Obama’s election, the then-Illinois US senator sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks for Hunter’s clients, the Wash/Post reported in Aug 2008, weeks after Obama tapped Joe Biden as his running mate.
Greenfield--- At first glance, Hunter Biden’s influence peddling deals appear to be internationally opportunistic, as he flew on AF Two from one part of the world to the other, exploiting whatever openings emerged.
Republicans need to scrutinize whether Hunter and his business partners were piggybacking on the foreign and domestic policies of the Obama administration, converging on green energy investments at home, and Chinese and Ukrainian oligarchs looking to do business in America.
