The proposed rule would amend the ATF regulations to clarify that firearm dealing that requires a license and conduct conducting a background check does not solely occur in brick-and-mortar stores,” a senior DOJ official said. “It also encompasses dealing at gun shows flea markets mail order and over the internet

That statement is 1000% proof positive that these morons don’t have the slightest idea what they’re talking about.

Mail order? When was the last time anyone bought a gun from a Sears catalogue. Good Lord. These people don’t know anything about this industry and how the transactions are made. WOW!!!!!

This is shameful that these people, the ones making these decisions, are so effin’ dumb.

He should reach out to the VanZoller chick and her husband, the documentary film makers. Ask her how it went when they went to a gun show to document how easy it was to buy a gun and got skunked. Same for the Senior Senator from Arizona, maybe he can talk about how “easy” it was, after he got skunked.

But they want you to have a ffl to sell a gun . period

What they want is gun registration achieved by "universal background checks" that apply to private sales. The Form 4473 has been rearranged such that page 1 has the details of the firearm and buyer for easy OCR ingest and storage to a database. The prior form had the firearm details on page 3.

I can’t think of a single thing any gun control freak is good for. Not a single thing.

They are far worse than worthless, they make it harder on everyone except criminals of course.

We will not comply.

We don't have much choice as Fedzilla has a stranglehold on the shipment of arms to licensed dealers whose licenses they can pull and the manufacturers cannot ship to anyone without a license.

Of course, any action can be contested in the courts if you have a few hundred thousand dollars lying around to pay the lawyers. And even then, certain circuits like the Seventh Circuit in Chicago have never met a gun control rule they didn't like.

The regulation basically states that if you sell a firearm and make any profit you are a firearms dealer and must be licensed.

Sell that Swedish Mauser you got thirty years ago for $95 for $500 now to a friend without going through an FFL and you're looking a 5-7 years.

This is their way of enforcing universal background checks without any legislation.

Never fails...

There are those that are worried about having their gun rights trampled by a rogue government...and those that are worried about clicking on a link.

Sheesh.

ok....sell the mauser for $95 and a box of shells to go with it for $405.

Or just sell something else and give the guy the rifle.

Years ago there was a strip club in the Atlanta area. They didn’t have a license to sell booze on Sundays. So, you bought a bag of chips and they gave you the drink for free.

Set a left and right limit, always a way around it.
