The Culinary Workers Union in Las Vegas, the largest union in Nevada, voted to authorize a strike against major casinos on Tuesday if contract disputes continue.

The Culinary Union represents over 60,000 hospitality workers in Las Vegas and is one of Nevada’s strongest political forces. Over 95 percent of workers voted to authorize a strike Tuesday, the union announced.

Over 40,000 members are currently working without a contract as the union seeks better pay, benefits and working conditions in negotiations with top casino companies including MGM International, Wynn and Caesars Entertainment.

Private unions can put their employers out of business. Public unions only have their employers raise taxes.

The workers should easily win the strike—gamblers have nowhere to go except Las Vegas these days...

Lol.

Vegas is going to pay the price for all the cheap labor they welcomed into the country. I hope they end up paying hotel maids 45 bucks an hour. The unions own the illegals now. Embrace the suck, Skippy!!!

Democrat in White Hut
Economic stress and likely inflation.

Since things are difficult to buy, I say let’s shit on our jobs and ask for more money.

Sadly, instead of letting the workers twist in the wind while earning no money to buy groceries, management will cave.

I spent all my time in Vegas in the 50s and 60s. Only been there a couple time since 1970. The last time I went, I found the idiots turned it into New York City but a lot bigger dump than the real NYC. 86.00 bucks to see a has been female country singer. I paid a $7.50 cover charge to see Elvis at the International in 1969 and again in 1970. Naw. You can have Vegas.

That scene where Joe Pesci is chewing out Robert De Niro in “Casino” comes to mind.

International visitors to Las Vegas have declined 40% since the pandemic. During the pandemic, the unemployment rate reached 30%. There are 10,000 fewer hospitality workers in Las Vegas since the pandemic. Currently, the Nevada unemployment rate is 5.4%.

Union workers are planning to squeeze blood from a turnip.

Hey c'mon, I live in Vegas and there's no state income tax in NV, thanks to all the losers who come out here and drop their hard-earned dough at the casinos. So keep on coming, losers.

Wonder how many terminations will ensue so Biden’s 470K illegals with work permits can replace them?.

Casino owners want to fleece customers.
Casino employees want a piece of that fleecing.
Casino bosses want to fleece employees too.

The House, and the politicians they pay off, always win.
