This is so weird - these ancient hatreds are something that I don’t think most Americans understand.
We are descended from those who decided to make a better life for themselves and their families so they left the misery they were living in. But these middle eastern people would rather cling to their mutual hatreds than create a better life.
I have someone from Turkey living in my house and he explained it to me - their primary focus is apparently to defend what they believe is their historical turf - no matter what. They’d rather die than give up a sliver of land to their ancient enemy...even if they have to live in poverty to maintain the status quo.
The civilian population of Gaza are legitimate targets. Let’s git it on.
Options given. Choice made. End of story.
I hope they get plenty of help celebrating their decision.
