I don't believe it either. I went to high school with blacks in the late 70s early 80s in Cow Town USA in California. All of them in Section 8 housing, intact families, church going, sociable and incidentally very funny. I liked them and they liked me. I don't remember a single racial incident between the races then either.

I live in OK. I have several black friends that agree with me. What I find intriguing is that positive natural abilities in blacks such as athleticism, can be extolled, but any negative behaviorial tendencies can never be discussed. White liberals have certainly contributed to the problem, but blacks have agency. All races have natural tendencies both good and bad, but we can’t criticize blacks for anything lest we be labeled racist. That’s cowardice.

My DIL’s friend and former co-worker went to NC to teach in public school. She soon came back here to teach in PRIVATE school. This despite the fact that we live in a crappy Northeastern BLUE state.

Depends on how they were RAISED. If you put a kid in front of screens all day, feed him junk food, over discipline him when he “gets on your last nerve” but otherwise let him run feral, teach him nothing other than how to speak incorrectly and expose him to crack smoke, yep you’re going to get a dullard.

As a retired teacher, I can confirm this. Even two disruptive kids can pretty much cripple the education of their classmates; as you say the teacher spends most of his/her time dealing with them. Sit them on opposite sides of the classroom and enjoy the days they are absent.

But four or five? Learning becomes impossible. Every single minute of class is devoted to trying to control the disrupters. Only the most strong-willed students will be able to learn in such an environment, because as chaos becomes the norm, even the good kids will stop caring and start following the chaos.
