Former President Obama stood by President Biden’s commitment to the NATO alliance on Wednesday, days after former President Trump sparked concern around the globe by saying the U.S. should not defend NATO allies who fall short of their defense spending targets.
“President Biden is absolutely right,” Obama wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The last thing we need right now is a world that is more chaotic and less secure; where dictators feel emboldened and our allies wonder if they can count on us. Let’s keep moving forward.”
Obama was responding to a statement from Biden saying the NATO alliance keeps American families safe.

What we need right now is an America that is more secure and less chaotic. What we need right now is for our borders to be closed, and every illegal alien that has deliberately violated our immigration laws, to be rounded up, and sent back to their native country. If they come here illegally a second time, they will be taken for a helicopter ride over the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean, so they can sleep with the fishes.
Member countries fulfilling their responsibilities and setting policies that demonstrate the will to use their resources to defend themselves, is what keeps America families safe!

The cultural chaos is here in the US; and we have our own homegrown tyrants who have been emboldened...they’re in your political party, Mr. Obama (with some of them even being in ours).
Keeps us safe? How? Other than the UK, and to a lesser extent, Canada, Australia and NZ which the US can ally as the Five Eyes without the NATO apparatus, is there any war the US engaged since the formation of the NATO alliance where the contribution by continental European allies made a significant difference to the outcome? And yes, that question applies to Afghanistan, the only time Article five was invoked, with US special forces militarily winning within two months and then changing the mission and proceeding to lose over the next 20 years. Vietnam, Iraq 1 and 2, Libya, the Balkans (which was of territorial vital national security interest to continental Europe and little to the Five Eyes)? My point is that nominal continental European military contributions, although nice for the feelgood optics of multinationalism, have always been militarily insignificant and irrelevant to ultimate war outcome
Maybe a little tough love is in order requiring them to form their own joint standing army and alliance for their defense with a separate Five Eyes alliance, which does not face the same territorial threats as continental Europe, that operates independently and has no hard baked in mutual commitments to a continent with money and manpower reluctant to defend itself.
