Police are investigating a shooting that wounded six people, one fatally, on the west side of Indianapolis early Monday.
Officers received a report of a person shot at a Waffle House restaurant in the 2600 block of South Lynhurst Drive, near Sam Jones Expressway and Interstate 70, shortly after 12:30 a.m. Feb. 19. When they arrived at the scene, officers found five victims who had apparently been shot.
One of the victims, an adult female, died from her injuries at the hospital. The other victims transported from the scene to area hospitals, three men and a woman, are all in stable condition, police said.
According to IMPD, a sixth victim — an adult male who arrived at IU Health Methodist Hospital shortly after the shooting — is in critical condition.
Police said two groups of people got into an altercation at the restaurant before the shooting. An IMPD spokesperson said the incident happened both inside and outside the Waffle House.

1000s of Waffle Houses have no problems whatsoever, night after night.
“indoor shooting ranges...”
BWA HA .... that’s a good one ..
In my youth I visited a few WHs but I don’t trust my reflexes to react fast enough any more.
I did like a good steak and eggs with a side a hash browns at 3:00 in the morning ... and a show.
Can’t beat the show....
Oh. come on! That isn’t plausible.
I’m pretty sure it was two groups of polymer chemists having a debate over the best polymer compound for the soles of basketball shoes and the impact on player performance and game statistics.
Most Waffle House places have really good breakfast. Great waffles, hash browns, eggs. Good prices too. Convenient right off the road when traveling.
Wouldn't matter. No way they'll post pics of any suspects.
“When we want faster Waffle House service, we ain’t playin’ ‘round. Weeze hungry !”
The food might be decent, but from what I’ve seen the clientele is kinda sketchy.

I’ve flown in and out of Indianapolis many times. I don’t know about the residential character of the surrounding area, but the Waffle House is in the middle of one of those adjacent-to-the-airport hotel and casual dining sprawl developments. It’s right in front of the Indianapolis Airport Red Roof Inn and Suites. A La Quinta Inn (Wyndham), Fairfield Inn & Suites (Marriott, and Residence Inn (Marriott) are a block away, as are several other casual dining restaurants.
12:30 a.m.? Airport overnight housing? Airport workers heading to or getting off work? Local shady types from down the street? This one could be a bit surprising.
I hope it wasn’t thugs. Cuz you can’t say that because the hypersensitive now think that equates to skin color and not behavior.
P.S. In any event, it’s not downtown. This happened out around the airport and just off the interstate. Could be anything.
You may be correct. Or perhaps a third possibility: The Fani Willis lawyer gang, Alvin Bragg lawyer gang, and Letitia James lawyer gang encountered each other at the Waffle House and began arguing over who would ‘get Trump’ first. Before you could say “Bob’s your uncle,” the guns were out, and the blasting commenced.
I could see the glow of their character from Florida
You can't handle the truth...
Near the airport isn’t safe anymore. I have a friend that was coming back from Scotland and had a choice to pay to stay at an Airport Hotel overnight to catch a shuttle ride north to where we live the next day, or pay more for a cab ride home. She chose the cab ride same day..
Indy isn’t a safe city anymore. It has really went downhill in the last 15-20 years.
It has really great suburbs. For now anyway.
“What’s Fonzie like, Yolanda?”
I guess we better outlaw Waffle Houses. Apparently they cause violence. This is science, you deniers!
There you go again, tooting your dog whistle.nI have precisely calibrated ears tuned for 23 to 54 kHz and heard what you said there. Woof! Woof!
I like John Lennon’s song “Imagine” Imagine no black crime......imagine not needing a police department except to help old folks across the streets....
Steve Martin “stay away from the waffles... he hates these waffles!”
Waffle house was founded by 2 white men. Thence, their white privilege unknowingly built systemic racism into the organizational structure. Any violence that takes place by the underprivileged is completely justifiable. I suggest a heavy fine and confiscation of properties against the establishment. Any and all owners will be sacked from running the restaurants for 3-years. That’ll teach ‘em.
