Federal agencies investigating whether AT&T outage was caused by cyberattack | Here's what we know
ABC ^ | 2/22/24 | ByMax Zahn and Jon Haworth

Posted on 02/22/2024 10:20:49 AM PST by EBH

Two sources briefed on the situation told ABC News that the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), among other agencies, are now urgently investigating to determine whether the AT&T outages are the result of a cyber attack or a hack, or simply some sort of technical malfunction.

More than 73,000 AT&T customers reported outages on digital-service tracking site DownDetector. That's not a comprehensive number: It tracks only self-reported outages. Although outage reports fell a bit in the 5 am ET hour, they bounced back in the 7 am ET hour and continue to surge.

Several local governments said AT&T's outage was disrupting its services.

San Francisco's Department of Emergency Management said in a statement on X Thursday morning that its 911 center remained operational, but many AT&T customers were unable to reach the emergency line because of the outage. It suggested people call from a landline or find someone with a rival's service to dial 911.

Cellular networks are unreliable by design because they are overprovisioned due to economics.

37,000 Chinese nationals allowed in - that we know of - last year alone.

They’re not here as friendlies.

Trial run for November.

One of the first things they take down prior to an attack is communication. If this was cyber...quite impressive to pull it off.

Network scrubbing day. Algorithms are busy deleting all problems in emails and texts embedded in databases originating in the world of bureaucrats and politicians.

Gotta scrub weekly in Bidenville. Latest chatter puts Fanni-Nathan naughty texts with pics as being problems needing database scrubbing.

Imagine ten million illegals who suddenly have nothing. No phones. No money. No food.

Popcorn time.

Happened to me in Boston, cleared by the time I got south of Plymouth. I don’t know if it cleared everywhere, or if I drove out of the affected area.

It was. Hold on to your hats 2024 is going to be interesting. China has infilitrated our technology and our political and busisness worlds. They control everyone. Sometime before the election they will cause or will cause the power to be shut off and then will march in under the guise of compassionate aid to help get us back on our feet again. Our “leaders” already have their spots secured in the new China province of the United States so they will allow it to happen. We will lose our country without a shot being fired.

“ Update: FBI and DHS not involved”

Latest spin is solar flare or sunspots (which only affected certain systems and specific areas).

I read an article recently that the country is discontinuing all landlines within next couple of years.

So what kind of land line?

Actual, physical, copper wire coming into your home and/or business?

Voice over IP?

Hybrid Cellular/VOIP systems?

All of the above?

“Federal Agencies” need to prove they didn’t do it.

So if the FBI and DHS are involved, there must be something that needs covered up, hidden, buried, and people threatened to keep quiet or else.

The UK plan is to turn off all PSTN and ISDN services (landlines) in 2025. Users will have to move to a digital phone of some kind, wireless or wired to a VoIP box. After this happens, everyone’s phone will be dependent on the internet, one way or the other.

I suspect the US is going to let UK be the guinea pig but won’t be far behind.
