i believe the dune pt1 and pt2 are closer to the book.
i do remember reading the dune series of books in high school

So I hear, but I still don’t plan to see them, for reasons that I explained earlier. I hope those who see the movies enjoy them. Lots of folks really liked the LOTR movies, too, but I’d rather not see them either.

I like the LOTR’s movies because i never read those books.

That’s the thing, I’m usually OK with a movie if I haven’t read the book (unless it’s a really stupid movie anyway).

The LOTR books are very much worth reading, though, whether or not you’ve seen the film version. Read The Hobbit first, then the Ring trilogy. There’s a lot more of J.R.R. Tolkien’s writings about Middle-earth, but those four books are the heart of it.
