New York’s partisan Attorney General Letitia James was loudly booed at a ceremony for the New York Fire Department on Thursday.
While speaking at the event, James is heard praising FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, right before a large number of individuals in the audience begin shouting former President Trump’s name.
When James began her lecture, several in the audience booed, leading her to reply, “Come on, we’re in a house of God…simmer down.”
NY Firefighters Loudly Boo Letitia James FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens said in a statement, “Today’s ceremony was about one thing: the accomplishments of the members being promoted. The members whose behavior distracted from that celebration were an embarrassment and not befitting of the world’s best fire department.”

Folks here often bash unions, and with good reason. But this is one time where I’m rooting for a union. Uniformed Firefighters Association, tell City Hall to go hell.
Send even one firefighter to a re-education session, and everybody walks off the job.

Unions are weird things. And I would know, as I was an involuntary member of three of them in my long working career.
I spent five years in the United Steelworkers union. The entire leadership was Leftist. But trample on the rights of any individual member, and everyone went insane.
I could be wrong. But I suspect that a police or firefighter union would be even more that way.

The leftist United Steelworkers leadership would routinely try to bully any questioning members. I saw that a lot. But should any *outsider* try to bully a member, that’s when all hell would break loose. All of a sudden it becomes United We Stand.
Perhaps I’m living in the past. But I’m guessing that police and fire unions are the same.
50 percent drop in pay if they move to a red state. Yes it’s a little cheaper but not that much.

My dad was a member of the Machinists Union in NYC prior to going into the Navy during WW2. He told me that the union was just interested in collecting dues and that was it.
