An e-mail I just received from Mervyn's Department Stores:
Dear xxxxxxx,
Thanks for contacting us.
The comments the were made regarding the terrorist attack were totally out of line and brutally insensitive to all Americans. We regret that Mervyn's name was associated with that, And we have taken the necessary steps to stop current and future advertising on that program.
We thank you for being a valued guest. Please visit us again at www.mervyns.com.

There is certainly something unsettling about those who seek to defend people like Maher and insert words in his mouth. If they want to make a point, they should just do it. Why enlist this clown as your oracle when it's clear he is not willing to make the same arguments?
Why seek to defend this loser and construct these elaborate methods of coming to his defense when he himself does not even suggest such claims?
Why would people of sense try to defend this loser? There is a thread here on FR where one guy was actually defending what a Backstreet Boy said about how the U.S. may have provoked this attack!!!
The people defending these losers are smart enough to know better so it makes you wonder what motives lurk deep in their hearts.
Do we all need to become one jingoistic ant-intellectual mush of patriotism right now? No. But we sure don't need people who are seeking to advance their insidious anti-U.S. bias by putting words in people's mouths and defending those who clearly mean more harm than good to the U.S.
Thank you, and like you, I wonder what their underlying motivations are in defending this left wing scum bag!
I do all the time and they really appreciate it!
I usually get an email back thanking me and saying
they usually only hear from irate respondants and that it
a pleasure to see we are happy with their decisions..
First of all, Target Corporation is the parent company of Mervyn's, Dayton/Hudsons, and Marshall Fields. Second, since Target does not sell guns OR ammo, the company is not really pro- or anti-gun rights. The reason the company does not sell guns or ammo is the same reason the company no longer sells tobacco (at least, not in the Great Lakes region): the company was losing money hand over fist just by stocking such high theft merchandise. As with many aspects of retail, it comes down to a question of assets protection: is it economically feasible to carry certain merchandise once you factor in the cost of increased security necessary to keep such merchandise?
Why is the Target Foundation so close to the vest with respect to what they fund?
Here is another look at Maher/pacifists and apologists for the Arabs:
In 1942, George Orwell wrote, in Partisan Review, this of Great Britain's pacifists:
"Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me.'!"
In our town, Target lists the schools which receive money from Target when purchasers are made. I don't know about the other charities besides the Ronald McDonald House which is a great charity. We have known families who have used their facilities as their child was dying!
Great suggestion by a poster re Carhart Jeans!
If you want to "target" a foul/vile, anti gun, anti America/American company focus on ABC/Disney. The company that allows Maher to go on pour out his left wing venom!
As an American, you don't have to shop at Target! I do and as posted before will not buy any ChiCom products. Interesting on this area, I can find more Taiwan products at Target than anyother store. Last time I checked on it, Taiwan is still a good ally!
This afternoon, my wife and I will go to Costco. Costco has a ton of ChiCom products and a ton of non ChiCom products. Only American and non ChiCom products will be purchased by us! I use my $'s like "smart" bombs, and I refuse to wound myself economically by refusing to shop at Costco, Target, Home Depot and Walmart because someone claiming to be a conservative tells me not to! I buy American products and products of countries who back us! Many so called conservatives hate Walmart. I have exercised my second amendment rights at Walmart for over a decade, and I still do!
Good discussion here, thanks for starting it!
