Visalia police to fly to Utah to bring suspect back

The two men suspected of dressing as women and robbing a pair of clothing stores in Visalia last week were half brothers who had visited relatives in Kern County before they came to Visalia, the Times-Delta has learned.

The two showed up at their aunt's house in Delano after traveling separately from Omaha, Neb.

Speaking from her mobile home in Omaha, the pair's mother, Yolanda Garcia, expressed sympathy for Donaldson's relatives Saturday.

"My heart goes out to them," she said. "I feel sorry for that family ... [My sons] did a very, very stupid thing.

"It's sad, and it's kind of embarrassing the way they did it and the way it happened -- wearing wigs and dresses."

Before Hernandez was caught in Utah, Garcia was careful not to disclose to the Times-Delta that she knew of his possible involvement in the robbery to allay the chances of his capture, she said Saturday.

What was that about an apology? Very, very, stupid mother should be prosecuted for aiding and abetting, and given the overtime bill for the capture.

The ever-alert Trooper Collier was right on top of this one. Can't believe this happened in Visalia. Pretty depressing story.

Small correction: Landois was shot dead by a Visalia, CA policeman. His surviving accomplice, Hernandez, was arrested by Trooper Collier in Utah.
