[history]
So far this year, 10 Detroit-area children were killed by guns. How can we, as a community and a state, stop this rising tide of gun violence?
Other communities that have stood at the dangerous intersection of young people and guns provide a good lesson. The similarities between school shootings in Littleton, Colo., and Erfurt, Germany, are striking -- troubled kids, access to guns and unbearable tragedy. Even more striking: the difference between the two countries' responses.

The Million Mom March promoted their cause by having several violent felons speak at the march in 2000. One lady in DC shot the wrong man she had assumed had shot her son. She used her son's illegally owned gun to do so. Another shot a man in Chicago if I remember correctly.
Are these the kind of people we want to trust on the issue of firearms? Not bloody likely.

"Unfortunately, Bush has already said he would sign it if it came before him."You must be joking. Why the hell did I vote for that twit?

...10 Million citizens...Last I heard, it was at least13 million. So now we're up to 433 years. Almost half a millenium.

"Anything for the cause.Hell, you give me 3 days, a dozen bags, and enough Jack Daniels, and I'll get Hillary!ous to the right of Jesse Helms. ; )"That would be quite a feat, considering how she's currently left of Stalin.

You must be joking Nope, I'm not. When I get home, I'll even dig up the side by side comparison of his gun positions with Gore's from back during the campaign. Support for the AW law was one of his positions.
To: BlessingInDisguise
Sorry, just one more point: you have to remember that with the 90% of the sheep who don't place any higher value on the Constitution that they do on a piece of used Kleenex, the AW ban is very popular. Expect the renewal of the ban to be The Big Issue for the Anti-Rights Coalition when 2004 rolls around.

Evidently this was done to meet the requirements of some idiotic law that congress passed. It was done to prevent "sky-busting" morons from wounding(and losing)more birds than they already do. Not all laws are stupid or unnecessary.

I have shotguns twice my age that came with the dowel in them. Since I don't hunt, the dowel goes in the woodchipper.

In case there's any remaining doubt in anyone's mind as to what constitutes "common sense" to these prohibitionist twits, this one ought to erase it. "Sensible" and "common sense" means "whatever I think is right at the moment, you will obey."

she usually doesn't need any help in that arena (pump action), but this week there is apparently a battery shortage and rosie "o" is out of town.
To: BlessingInDisguise
Just remember the so called "Assault Weapons Ban" expires in September 2004 unless it is renewed by Bush and Congress (which it won't be). I hope you're right, but I have my doubts.

They really stepped in it this time. They no so little about firearms they don't realize how many people they piss off when they mention pump action guns. So true. They probably think (if they think anything at all) that the only Americans who have pump action shotguns are inner-city gangbangers....with the sawed-off variety.
I hope this story gets a lot of attention, for the reason you mentioned.

I believe she was the producer of the TV show, "Designing Women". The show that depicted three Southern women from Arkansas starring Dixie Carter. You might want to check where she was originally from.
