So far this year, 10 Detroit-area children were killed by guns

Define children!!! 15-20 year old gangbangers, perhaps?

More confinement from them, more psych evaluation from them. Time to confine them and put them in hospital to reeducate them about what legal controling authority aka jurisdiction is all about. The anti-God worshipers of gun control will be crushed.

Never trust a woman with three names.

Very soon, some will have five.

I've made it a policy not to allow my daughter to have hyphenate-teachers.

"We don't want to ban all guns (today), just all pump-action guns."

I'm surprised she didn't call them "riot guns". Next will be "sniper rifles", a.k.a. bolt action rifles.

I doubt that empty shells would work. The warden will check the gun when it is empty (so the empty shells would be removed) by pushing a plunger up into the loading tube. This indicates how many shells can be loaded by how far the plunger can be pushed into the tube. The dowel is actually placed in the tube behind the plug that pushes the shells into the chamber.

And how is it that these socialist biddies excrete their anti-gun platitudes on behalf of "the children" while simultaneously screeching for limit-free abortion - the ultimate act of violence against a child?

Was this woman born stupid, or did she have to work at it?

She was probably born stupid, but had to work hard at becoming a complete idiot. Her position goes beyond ignorance - ignorance is curable, but the desire to wilfully lie to promote one's position generally is not...

They really stepped in it this time. They no so little about firearms they don't realize how many people they piss off when they mention pump action guns.

She did say pump action "guns" not shotguns. I wonder if she would consider the motion of jacking the first round into the chamber of a semi-auto a "pump action".

Opens up a whole new category, don't it?

Just remember the so called "Assault Weapons Ban" expires in September 2004 unless it is renewed by Bush and Congress (which it won't be).

Unfortunately, Bush has already said he would sign it if it came before him. It'll have to be stopped in Congress if it is to be stopped. The next Congressional elections will be crucial. If Dems take the House, expect a new bill, perhaps with even stricter language. If Repubs keep the House, expect to still have to fight to stiffen the spines of the masses of amoeboid Republicans in Congress.

Basically, they want to outlaw anything but old-style long weapons such as bolt-action rifles and single shot or double barrel shotguns. And then they'll start demanding those as well...

Mrs. DEES-THOMASES: Listen as carefully as your limited faculties will allow: THERE IS NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE. There, now, I feel better.

I can't wait until after they seal the gun show "loophole", they'll start whining because person-to-person sales outside of gun shows are not regulated (persecuted) to the same degree as the ones at shows, and that will become the new "loophole". These people remind me of the MADD morons; idiotic solutions in search of something to define into a problem that needs fixing.

Donna,

Simple question. What part of "shall not infringe" do you not understand?

I realize this is actually about gun violence as opposed to gun accidents but you'll get the point...

Think about this:

a. The number of physicians in the US is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (US Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Then think about this:

a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owners .0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. As a public health measure I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention.

The magazine plug for the shotgun is a standard item. It was made mandatory for migratory waterfowl hunting when the repeating shotgun was introduced. You can remove it and if you are caught with a capacity greater than 3 rounds, you lose. Play by the rules and no problem. Use your shotgun for upland game birds or deer and you can remove the plug.

I don't get the big deal you are making out of this. Hunters for years, by and large, have followed the rules. That is why gun control laws are so ludicrous! These laws are enacted to protect us from people who don't obey laws in the first place and only are effective against the people that you don't need these laws for in the first place!

To do this deed, I would require alcohol in quantities that far exceed the point where I pass out.

It specifically states that the magazine shall contain a device that limits total capacity to no more than two rounds and that said device must not be removable without partial diassembly of the shotgun (i.e. take off the barrel). Empty shells are a no-no.

By the way, all you need is a length of dowel stock small enough to pass through the threaded hole that the barrel keeper screws into. I made my own. No big deal.
