(French) Pesticide Drums found at PLO Training Site discovered in Iraq.
MSNBC | 4/9/03 | Dana Lewis

Posted on 04/08/2003 11:04:38 PM PDT by Steven W.

NBC reporter Dana Lewis reporting live video from newly discovered PLO terrorist training camp that was discovered in Iraq. It has obstacle course, shooting range, pretty much looks like one of the familiar AlQaeda terrorist training camps. Dana Lewis also reports that this camp is close to the infamous pesticide site and that there are some of the same French pesticide drums (not the others suspected of containing the CW "Cocktail" mixture) at the PLO camp along with gas masks and chemical suits. They're not sure what to make of it and the officer in charge was hesitant to say much of anything, being particularly sensitive to the political implications of discovering of all the PLO materials & literature, mural, etc., there. He said that other folks (above their pay grade presumably) are going to be assessing everything.

To clarify about the potential CW "drums" find at the "pesticide plant" - if you've seen the site there are actually two seperate groups of drums; there are drums above ground which are clearly French imported (marked "Rhome") and apparently confirmed to be pesticide. There is also another group of drums, however, that were placed in a dug-out bunker and buried which is the group that tested positive for different agents, both in the kits the 101st had and then, also, a German chem team also confirmed as indicating a presence. Samples from those (buried & now marked "GAS") were taken and shipped somewhere for exact testing and McChrystal at DoD Tuesday said that the tests are still outstanding and no confirmation either way yet (on the other buried drums).

Dana Lewis is now reporting that some of these same French pesticide drums are also present at the PLO training site.

Obviously questions come to mind whether they were using the (otherwise "ok") pesticides for killing bugs, for terrorist training (as simulated agents?) or whether they were seeking to train using them unconventionally because there were also lots of training materials on chemical warfare at the facility.

Of course! I didn't have my French-lib-o-file hat on. OK. Here goes ... Terrorists were well trained by the Iraqis to always keep their caves and foxholes clean and bug free!

Nothing to see here folks. all this stuff is just left over from Iraq's rarely publicized war with the mosquito people.

According to the Anti-war Radical Left, there are no terrorist training camps in Iraq. They must be desert mirages.

Thought this article was interesting...

PESTICIDES SCANDAL EXPOSES EUROCRATS' FOUL PLAY
~snip~

Alarmingly, their research also reveals that when the pesticide 'fipronil' came into contact with lizards, birds and most importantly termites, their population numbers declined

~snip~
Furthermore, PAN-UK suspects that not only were French officials in the European Commission blatantly ignorant of the identity of the pesticide, but also that a European Commission secretary had given the green light to a recent contract with CARE France.

~snip~
Assisted by some British MEPs, Dr Colin Tingle, a respected Environmental Impact Ecologist and Member of the NR Group suspects EU funds have been diverted onto Bayer Crop Science which produces fipronil, which the BBC reported in 1999.

~snip~
PAN -UK which have reported the impact of such chemicals in the past in Madagascar, would like to expose the real reasons why EU officials, working under Danish Commissioner Poul Nielson, cannot reveal the details of a payment made to a European firm to supply pesticide. Inquiries in Brussels have revealed that the EC tender to support CARE France - through the French government - was signed and agreed at the end of July. CARE deny the involvement of the French Government.

"The Commission is hiding behind a lame excuse of not being able to reveal the details of the firm or the product that CARE France plan to use" claims the MEP. "They have made a payment of 1million euro to CARE France, without even knowing which pesticide is going to be used, but everything points towards Aventis Crop Science under their new name Bayer Crop Science and fipronil".

~snip~
Rhone-Poulenc later became Aventis, then Bayer.

"But still there is no answer to the fundamental question, has anybody yet heard what pesticides were bought by the EU and sent to Madagascar? M. Ghilain has avoided spelling that out in his email" adds Tingle.
