Well, Californians can always vote for the lady who's running while wearing a pink bird costume...

Tom McClintock is opposed to Brady and other restrictions on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms

So you believe that a McClintock Administration would have the ability to stop the gun grabbers from achieving their objective? Having these stands is one thing, but realistically speaking, having the ability to actually *do* something about them once in office is another.

And this is suppose to...what?...make us all foam at the mouth? California already has the most restrictive gun laws in the union, if I'm not mistaken. As someone suggested here, his stance might actually represent something of a retreat from California's existing laws.

BTW, Reagan signed the Brady Bill, so I guess that makes him a RINO.

What was he doing signing bills five years after he left office?!?!

Absolutely. The governor has the power to VETO any law that passes the legislature.

And what percentage or number of votes is required to override a veto?

Are you sure that's not local ordinance somewhere? Everything I've purchsed in the SF Bay Area in the last 3 years has been a 10 day waiting period (which is still 10 days too long).

Well, let's see...

California has also had a waiting period for handgun sales since at least 1923. The California Legislature increased the handgun waiting period from one to three days in 1955, to five days in 1965, and to the current 15 days in 1975.

Does anyone know where Cruz Bustamante stands on gun control?

Yes. His views, like Arnold's, are that law abiding gun owners are somehow the problem, not the criminals.

California's had a 15 day waiting period since 1976.

wrong. It is a 10 day wait following the successful NICS check. Handgun purchases are limited to one in a 30 day period. No limit on long gun purchases. You also have some new requirements to pass a written handgun safety certificate test, pay a fee for that test, pay a fee for the NICS check and prove you are a resident with a recent utility bill. You also have to purchase a California DOJ approved locking device for your new handgun and/or prove that you own a California DOJ approved safe.

Two-thirds, which Republicans are presently able to hold to by two votes in the Senate and six in the Assembly.

No he didn't. The Brady bill didn't become law until the 1990s.

well who did sign it then?....oh oh...not the same guy who brought us the assault rifle importation ban?.........was it?

Your link cites data that stops at 1990. I started buying firearms in Calfornia in 1999 and the waiting period was 10 days. It is still 10 days.

So at best, a pro 2nd Amendment conservative Governor could only postpone the inevitable from happening in CA when it comes to gun ownership?

Does a pro 2nd Amendment conservative actually have a viable chance to win in this recall-election?

I don't think so. Seems the vast majority of voters in CA don't seem to care too much about protecting their gun ownership rights.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd appreciate it.

Brady Bill passed and signed by Bill Clinton in 1993, his first year in office.

Reagan was President from 1980-1988.

Off a 5+ years, 3 terms, and by 3 Presidents.

Perhaps you mean Sarah Brady signed a BATF form in December 2000 when she bought a 30.06 bolt-action scoped Remington deer rifle for her son Scott Brady.

The same exact high powered military cartridge rifle Sarah Brady at Handgun Control labeled a "sniper rifle".

You are correct. Apparently it used to be 15 days. Score one, albeit a small one, for the good guys,

Arnold's quote on gunshows was actually (having heard a replay):

"I vould like to close da loophole of da gun shows."

I don't know if his support for the Assault Weapons Ban refers to the national one that will sunset next year if not reauthorized, or the California one that is being appealed to the US Supreme Court.

Tha California Ban he is presumably referring to constitutes uncompensated confiscation, and criminalizing of those who continue to keep and bear what they lawfully purchased and owned.

I've stocked up on large caliber firearms and semi autos. This is only going to get worse in California.Keep plenty of ammo around too, because the tax on bullets will eventually make it through. Bang bang bang! Screw you Arnold!

Well, I don't live in California, so as far as I'm concerned, the state could fall in the ocean and I'd go, "That's a shame. What's for dinner?"

I might be exaggerating a little, but the only reason I posted that first comment was that you were harboring the mistaken impression that the report was 2nd or 3rd hand information. I was correcting you, that's all. If you want to vote for him, or anyone else running in the Recall election, I really don't care.
