Its now Denny's if memory serves me right.

This guy is lucky he didn't talk about being niggardly.

Nostalgia Aplenty! I remember stopping in with my parents on long trips to get dinner, or more often, an ice cream treat.

*sigh*

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Little Black Sambo is a century-old literary character whose images are considered racist caricatures.

The story of little black Sambo is supposed to have been from India, there being no tigers in Africa. And even if it were not, it's not a racist story anyway.

Brain dead PC crap.

Little Black Sambo isn't even about a "black" child, Sambo is Indian

From the Amazon web site ..

Little Black Sambo is a book that speaks the common language of all nations, and has added more to the joy of little children than perhaps any other story. They love to hear it again and again; to read it to themselves; to act it out in their play.

Synopsis

A little boy in India loses his fine new clothes to the tigers, but while they dispute who is the grandest tiger in the jungle he takes his fine clothes back again.

Where are we going ... and what's that handbasket you're carrying?

I had this book when I was a kid. Is "black" now a racist word? Here is a description of "Little Black Sambo" from Amazon.com.

Book Description
The jolly and exciting tale of the little boy who lost his red coat and his blue trousers and his purple shoes but who was saved from the tigers to eat 169 pancakes for his supper, has been universally loved by generations of children. First written in 1899, the story has become a childhood classic and the authorized American edition with the original drawings by the author has sold hundreds of thousands of copies.

i used to be a manager for Sambo's. good food, but not Denny's - they were competitors.

Sambo was a black child who outwitted a tiger. some negative stereotype...

Meanwhile, Cruz Bustamante still gets a pass for using "the N word" in a speech to a black organization!

How about "Amos", or how about "Andy" or how about "Amos and Andy"???

How about society stopping this idiotic stuff???

Its like Communist China. Cricize the regime or its thoughts and you become a non-person and have to publicly confess and repent in order to remain a citizen in good standing.

Sambo was an Indian from India. He ran around so fast the tiger chasing him was turned in to butter.

There used to be a Dennys-like restaurant clled Sambos, named after the fictional character. They changed their name to something else a few decades ago.

How interesting. A black health administrator, while talking to a Jewish materials manager yesterday, suggested that she try to "Jew" down the price of equipment. But I don't suppose the corpoation would think a thing about this comment.

I didnt know sambo was a racial slur. I still dont even know what it means. But that i know about it, who knows? Now i might be tempted to use it. Thanks to some stupid reaction, a racial slur will survive to scourge another generation.

**According to letters from two staff members at the Aug. 11 session, Debby Deck referred to "a Little Sambo sitting in the back of the room" as an example in a discussion on gaining respect from students.**

Yeah, this idiot is really going to get respect from students if she refers to them as little Sambos. What a jerk!

If a student did that, he would probably find his butt in juvenile court on some kind of trumped up hate charge. Oh, well, it apparently was just a slip of the tongue on the part of the "teacher."

slip of the tongue

This seems to be the exuse de jour.

"Look, when I called your wife a whore, and threatened to set fire to your house, and called your workplace to tell them that you were selling drugs in the parking lot, well ... it was a slip of the tongue!"
