Why did you find it necessary to make your first post, a thread? You could have easily asked the question on an existing thread in the religion category.

The short answer is that God doesn't need intermediaries.
He chooses to work through intermediaries (at times) ... very similarly to the way that we (humans) do.
Have you ever asked anyone to deliver a message for you (like the postal system) ?
Sometimes it's the preferred method.
