I can see John Baptiste de la Salle, Moses the Black, and St. Thomas More in the first one, I think that's St. Andrew Dung-Lac the Vietnamese martyr, St. Aloysius Gonzaga and St. Cyril of Jerusalem in the second.
Is the new guy an improvement?
If the new Archbishop is in Opus Dei he is even better than I had heard.
Hey, now! The Taj Mahal is a beautiful building.
Fair enough. I didn't know that there was anything of value in there. Besides the Eucharist, of course.
The tabernacle is a weird looking thing like three discarded and partially melted organ pipes, stuck away in a side chapel behind the altar.
Probably. I doubt that after all those years as a raving heretic, Mahony would even have recognized the famous saints.
I hope Abp Gomez is able to turn things around. He has actually been coadjutor for quite a while, I believe; Mahony was quietly removed from actual authority some time ago.
Personally, I think it was at his request. His mismanagement had already bankrupted the diocese, but it looked as if the case was going to turn to him personally and I think he wanted out. That was why he was so quiet about being removed.
I have heard that he may actually still be sued personally for his involvement in this case. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.
Was he one of the Jadot fraternity?

This is true. Look at how many years that Cardinal Mahony has been in LA. It will take a long time to undo some of Mahony’s stuff.

Your liberation theology won’t come from Archbishop Gomez. Read the bottom links about him. Very conservative. Be happy!
Huge improvement.
Opus Dei

Are you kidding me? That grotesque thing is the tabernacle?
Woooooooow.... That's hooooooooorrrible.
- but way out of our orbit, which is around Richmond. Good thing that they manage to be pretty conservative so close to UVA.
Don't see anything on the website or in the bulletin about the music repertoire, but at least on the website they say that ability to read music is "strongly preferred." You can tolerate a few non-music readers in the choir, but it really limits your ability to rehearse and sing good music. One of my pet peeves is people who sing in the choir for years and never trouble themselves to even try to learn to sight-read. It is just not that difficult, and age is no excuse. I had never seen Gregorian (Solesmes) notation before the age of 47, and I just sat down and learned it.
Wow. When the pendulum swings...
