Thank God he will put a man to speak boldly. Thank God for Perry and may God put His words in his mouth.
Psalms 18: 36-43
" Thou hast enlarged my steps under me that my feet did not slip. I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them: neither did I turn again until they weree consumed. I have wounded them that were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet. For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. Thou hast given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy them that hate me. They cried but there was none to save them: even unto the Lord but he answered them not. Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as dirt in the street. Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me."
Amen

It has always struck me as odd when Christians quote the more bloodthirsty parts of the Old Testament in Jesus name.
"But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."
David prayed that Psalm as did Jesus. I will do good to those that hate me but God will do as he sees fit.
Why did you choose THAT exact verse, and none of the others in that Psalm, (i.e. those that just speak of courage to persevere, etc.)?
I am not familiar with your specific faith, but in Christianity, no prayer is worth a thing unless its prayed in the Name of Jesus.
And BTW, the Bible, especially the O.T., is full of verses that speak of violence. Not that we must focus on them during our prayers, but they’re there nonetheless.
Prayers for our Governor Perry.
Because THAT exact verse is completely incongruent with the teachings of Jesus. Hence, 'It has always struck me as odd...'
