But Jesus never overturned the observance of the Sabbath.

Oh?

"And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him,
because he had done these things on the sabbath day
But Jesus answered them,
My Father worketh hitherto, and I work
.
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God" (Jn. 5:16-18 AV).

What do you make of that, FRiend?

***

It's not work if it is love. So, it's a good thing God doesn't stop loving people, especially on the Sabbath. Because if it were work, He wouldn't be able to lift a finger.

The Messiah does not violate the Sabbath. And neither does he claim to be God. The NT is chock full of the religious Establishment's lack of insight and understanding. As it was then, so it is today. The more some folks are put in their place, the more they are offended. Kind of like President Trump vs. the political Establishment and its lockstep media.

If the Messiah believed in the trinity doctrine, for example, he wouldn't even recognize himself. Makes perfect sense actually, because he could be sitting in a church pew week after week, year after year, yet himself go wholly unrecognized by those who ostensibly believe in him.

"Trump". That's the very definition of a flipped over story.

It's a weird little world out there..

Take it or leave it, you can't have both.

You can tell God that right before He tells you Matt. 7:23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

You see God can be and is a God of mercy and justice. God instituted the Ten Commandments at Creation. He re-iterated it with Moses (oral tradition must have broke down) because mankind had forgotten it. Jesus lived it when he came to earth. It was preached by His Disciples. The Ten Commandments were kept in the Ark which was a copy of the one in Heaven. Psalms 111:7,8 All His precepts are sure. 8They are upheld forever and ever.

quote-A doctrine that divides Bible believers.

That division could become even wider if more people start realizing that satan deceives the whole world today through ‘time’.
And it affects them in a way they can’t even see yet.

And it is one reason for the ‘Remember’ in His ‘Remember the Sabbath’ Commandment-

The Sabbath has been forgotten- hidden by the enemy due to the change of times and laws.
But those who have the Son need not be deceived.

But it was predicted that times and laws would change.

It puts all that Commandment breaking the enemy causes in Revelation 13, into perspective, too.

Today being named after some false god isn’t an accident- it’s prophetic.
So is rome’s ‘frigg’ day or ‘satyr’/’saturn’ day. or ‘sun’ day.. three false days that have zero to do with The Word or the Word Made Flesh, but you’d have a hard time convincing bible believers of that.
But those three false days have everything to do with one of satan’s vessel used in counterfeiting: Rome.

What would believers do if they learned rome’s friday isn’t the Father’s 6th Day?

What would believers do if they learned Passover (14th
Day) is always the Father’s 6th Day?

That ruins rome’s ‘good friday’, rome’s holy saturday and rome’s ‘sunday’ temple in one swift blow.

One would be blessed to start to see how the Father used His Son to tell time- and not Rome.
But it means having to reject rome’s false 1st importance of the gospel- something even muslims and judaism accept in one form..

What would 7th Day Adventists Hebrew Roots, etc, do if they realize coming up over the next 4 weeks on the Father’s calendar, that rome’s sun day is the 7th Day Sabbath?

They aren’t going to be keeping the Sabbath holy for 4 weeks. And Christians may.
And sometimes, Muslims will..
And sometimes, none of them do..

Most won’t be able to see this because they believe Christ died for our sins on rome’s false 6th day, good friday-
Instead of Christ dying for our sins as the Passover Lamb, on the Father’s True 6th Day (Passover) in accordance with the scriptures.

He can bless us with eyes to see that subtle, yet profound, difference in time and law.

People may start to understand why it says ‘Remember’ the Sabbath Day, then.

The enemy has done a good job of hiding it- and he has used religion to do it. quite a twist..

All for His Glory !

When was ANYONE ever commanded to assemble for collective worship as SDAs do on the sabbath? I can read where it was a day off. Where was it ever a day of “going to church”?

Thanks for your help

Luke 4:16 He went to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day He went into the synagogue, as was His custom. He stood up to read,

Here we have Jesus giving us an example to follow. Instead of concentrating on SDAs, keep focused on Jesus. Read the Bible.

Thanks for the comment.

As an example, when is it "Sabbath" in Davao City, the Philippines?

Bob, synagogues weren’t instituted by God. They were a tradition the Jews brought out of Babylon. Jesus and Paul both went into them to teach the Jews until they were run out.

My question remains: Where was anyone commanded to “go to church” on the sabbath?

Thanks for your response.

According to the Father’s timekeeping and calendar, the next Sabbath day will be on the 8th Day of His month- That is coming up on rome’s sun day.

Today is the 4th Day of the Father’s month- The 3rd Day of His work week, according to His Creation and His Word-

The 3rd work day, that commemorates Him gathering all the water into one place and the dry land appearing.
And Him having the earth sprout vegetation, plants, and trees.
Most in the US call it wednesday/woden’s day. a day given to some false god.

You've got to start someplace, usually the Bible for Bible-believers. People choose whether to discuss or turn it into a (unwanted) flame war. Did you notice my tag? Light, not heat.

There is a direct quote from God that the seventh day is holy. No scripture abrogates that. A certain sect has appropriated authority to make Sunday the Sabbath. Of course Sunday begins at sundown Sabbath and the apostles were in the synagogs on Sabbath and then teaching the gentiles on the first day (Saturday night). read Acts 13:42 KJV as an example.

I am not understanding what your concern is. There were assemblies from the beginning. Moses had them and The Prophets had them from time to time. Jesus attended them as did the Disciples.
Hebrews 10:24,25 states "24And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. 25Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

The purpose was an exchange of ideas, to encourage one another, renew friendships with long lost friends and relatives, to praise God and much much more. Do you have a fear of public places or do you have something against the structure dedicated to the assembly?

There is a direct quote from God that the seventh day is holy.

Which of any of the days? Actually, before Moses, who knew when the seventh day occurred?

And holy to whom beside Jehovah Elohim? I suppose Adam was created as the full-scale, adult prototype version. Day 6 is the day he met Jehovah Elohim. Who can fix it using the solar calendar, or moon cycles?

And even now, when does Sabbath begin Zulu? And where? Jerusalem? That's not the time zone in which Adam was made, was it?

Going to the Hebrew calendar, I'd kind of put my money on the idea that God fixed a Sabbath day suitable to Him then and there, and that all Jewish Sabbaths are calculated from that day both before and after it. But is the Sabbath truly a solar-based calendar day, or a moon-cycle-based calendar day. They don't jibe over a year, do they? what with Second Adar etc.

To argue over this simply does not make sense, from the sidereal time. My expectation is that only God knows (omniscient) when the seventh day after the first six actually occurred, and what we have now is solely based on human opinionated extrapolation, not fact or Scripture.

Look, we do not even have a consensus on the year Jesus died. Why do we want to get fixated on this enough to kill over it?

For Christians, as well as for Jesus and the Jewish legalistic culture, The Sabbath was made for man(kind), and not coincidentally, so was the Day of the Spirit's transition into the temporal sphere. If we go to Heaven, where there is no darkness, when is Shabbas, eh?

And if we ever get to abide in rhe Second Heaven beyond the orbit of Earth, when does day-fall come?

People need to think beyond the box.

The standard opening line for SDAs is “What’s the correct day of rest and worship in the Bible?” The sabbath was a day off, not a day of collective worship. Yet they’re using that gambit because they’re wanting people to come to their collective worship on Saturdays.

I have no problem with collective worship, but where were the people who were commanded to keep the sabbath told to “go to church” to observe it?

Let me put a little finer point on it. What the Jews were told to do on the sabbath was to stay in their homes (Ex. 16.29) and remember the sabbath in this fashion: “And thou shalt remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God brought thee out thence by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: therefore Jehovah thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.”

Yet SDAs, very fine people, don’t stay in their homes, and they don’t remember that God brought them of Egypt miraculously. Instead, they “go to church,” which God never told the Jews.

You seem hung up on the SDAs. Instead of casting rocks at them why not clean your own house and take care of your own salvation? You’re not looking to improve your relationship with God or change your worship habits, you’re wanting to feel superior to somebody else. That is not what God wants.

Bob, I referred to the SDAs, who I said are fine people, because they were the ones that were discussed in the original article that started this thread. I didn’t throw rocks at anyone, but merely asked a question: When was anyone ever told to assemble for worship on the sabbath? Isn’t it alright to ask a Bible question?

It may just be that you can’t answer it so you choose to sling mud at me. Haven’t you learned yet that he who slings mud loses ground?

Thanks for the discussion until you had to make it personal.

Adam knew and handed down that information through oral tradition. Catholics are big on oral tradition so they probably already knew this. God would not give a Commandment that we have no way of completing due to lack of a calendar. He is a fair and just God. If through neglect the Sabbath was forgotten, it was re-instituted when Moses came onto the scene. We have clay calendars that go back that far, so we're in the clear. Also Jesus would have corrected it if needed. Obviously that was not the case. So we can be sure we are observing the same Sabbath that God rested on at Creation. And will do so continually throughout eternity.

In Exodus 31, God tells the Children of Israel, “This will be a sign between Me and you” and “It will be a sign between Me and the Israelites forever” which was always understood by Jews to indicate non-Jews had no such specific obligation.
