The problem is that can also be said in regard to confession of crimes and the seal of the confessional. The tension between Church and state will always be there.

Catholics only follow their catechism when it suits them so I am not surprised. The overwhelming direction in the Catholic Church these days is leftist social justice from the pope on down to the exclusion of almost all else. Case in point Ted Kennedy died a good catholic despite being a murderer and supporting abortion because he gave a lot of money and voted the right way. If only so many in the government responsible for both the tax laws and the immigration laws were not also all-in for 'aiding & abetting' illegal aliens and the illegal activities that brought and kept them here. That includes both Democrats and RINOs.
