1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NASB, with emphasis)

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,

nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

You must stop gay acts and stay chaste. Don’t encourage opportunities to linger on or lust for an attractive same sex person. You must encourage others to do likewise.

But, yes, you can have gay attractions and be a practicing Christian.

——After they receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance.——

When and Where did our Lord require to do that to become a Christian?

Doesn’t He save us just as we are without some religious hocus pocus?

I don’t think Jesus condems any sinners. I see no difference in Homosexuality and any other sin. I spend my time worring about my own salvation and not condeming others who are no worse than I for their sins. We all share faults as human beings!!!

[[Christ said “come to me” not come to me after you have participated in an approved ceremony of a Roman sect that hasn’t even been invented yet.]]

Exactly- excellent post- Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved- the bible doesn’t say ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Chr5ist AFTER you have received a reconciliation verdict by the church’- the bible simply says “Believe on Christ’

Sadly many sects take the ‘Believe’ part and make it into a works based salvation- claiming that in order to ‘truly believe’ one must do such and such before they becoem acceptable to Christ- go through this or that ritual before God will take them seriously- renounce all sins before Christ will accept them, as in lordship salvation etc-

All that is necessary for salvation is to have a change of mind about Christ- who He is, and what He has accomplished- ie- believe that He was sent By God to die four our sins=- and simply come to the point where we accept that and believe it- Believe in Him and His salvation work- that invitation is open to everyone everywhere-

Probably. You just can’t act on those urges - which would be a sin.

Depends on what is meant by "gay" and "Christian."

You can suffer from same-sex attraction and be a Christian if you deny its fulfillment.

100% correct. What was the Apostle Paul’s thorn in his side? No one knows.
Could have been physical pain, could have been sinful inclination, could have been demonic harassment. But God told him His grace was sufficient.
Repent and pray. In Christ alone.

Absolutely. We are all sinners. The question are you sincerely repentant.

Define “unrepentant” - many claim if you ever engage in the activity again you can’t be repentant - they seem to forget they engage in sinful acts/thoughts daily and even their “little bitty sins” were just as sure to keep them from Heaven as the biggest sins were....except for Jesus’ gift to fulfill the New Covenant God presaged in Jeremiah as He told us that when He gave us this New Covenant, He would forgive our wickedness and recognize our sins no more.

Either the Christianity, or the gaiety, must be held in abeyance. These two worldviews are diametric opposites.

Latent (non-active) homosexuals are free to practice Christianity to the fullest extent of which they may be capable. Christianity, however, can be a harsh taskmaster, and lapses descend into venial, if not mortal sin.

Venial sin may be forgiven, sometimes repeatedly, if the act was not willful, but mortal sin has a whole different motivation, in that there was malice intent abounding behind the act.

Can you be an active thief and still a Christian?
Can you be an active murderer and still a Christian?
Can you be an active liar and still a Christian?
Can you be an active pedofile and still a Christian?
Can you be an active glutton and still a Christian?
Can you be an active alcoholic and still a Christian?

I believe the key word is “active”. The Lord said to repent of your sins, and go and sin no more.

Christians are in active repentance at all times. Those who promote sin, without repentance, are not Christian.

Most of us do not recognize your categories of sin Sin is sin it needs to be repented of and look to Christ for forgiveness. Some Christians have premarital or adulterous sex If they repent they are forgiven. If someone with same sex attraction has a same sex encounter they can be forgiven in exactly the same way. There is no mortal or venial sin. All sin is mortal in that it leads to a death sentence from God. God does not wink at our “lesser sins”. He condemns all sin with the same death penalty that Christ took on himself on our behalf.

Deny yourself, pick up my cross and follow me. To accept Christ is to repent your sins and live like him under the law and sin no more.

Takes a lot more than that. Read Hebrews 6. Repentance is called the “foundation”, which means something is built on it.

Seriously? Chapter and verse?

Good answer.

Too often the “church” tends to overlook sexual sin.

Urban churches often have a high number of unwed mothers. What are they doing to condemn that?

Our church has had a couple such incidents in the last few years. In both cases, the people involved confessed their sins. One couple decided to never be alone together until their wedding night a couple months later. The other seems to have gotten back on track and is raising her kid. Her father was a Deacon and resigned. All were forgiven by God and the church members. They changed their behavior.

Continuing in sin and trying to excuse it is sin, and thus falling short of the Glory of God.

No, it’s not OK. Yes, you can have homosexual tendencies, no you may not act on them. It is far from God’s plan of male and female. Many people have been delivered from those thoughts and have gone on to live good lives.
