I simply see no reason to believe that anything “supernatural” (for lack of a better term) exists.

I would reply to that that everything around you is supernatural. The fact that we have all of the elements for life on this earth is supernatural. The fact that life exists on earth (or anywhere in the universe) is supernatural. If not for a God then #1 There shouldn't be anything existing or #2 Then all should be a sterile lifeless space junk.

Which god?

There is only one God. God the Creator. All of the rest are impostors (or devils in disguise if you will).

I simply see no reason to believe that anything “supernatural" . . . exists.

And so, you choose to believe in a huge set of incredibly low-probability events, with a cumulative probability that is essentially zero.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything . . . except that you do believe in something. You just choose not to believe in God.

Your choice, but it's not any more 'logical' to believe in the statistically impossible than to believe in a 'Director' who has power we don't understand and can't match with our current knowledge of physics.

One other thing: I don't think God is "supernatural". He (to me) is nature. Calling God "supernatural" is like calling UV light "super-luminal" just because we can't sense it with our own eyes. So, I guess you could say that I agree with your caveat, "for want of a better term."

It’s my experience that megachurches are very focused on the personality/charisma of the senior pastor and whatever his schtick is. They tend to be like Tony Robbins life coaching rallies as opposed to church services. There’s lots of “name it and claim it” (prosperity) preaching. (”God wants you to be rich,” etc.)

What about a massive sports arena like Joel Osteen’s church in Houston? There’s definitely a cult of personality going on there.

It’s odd that people blame a church for loss of faith. Their faith should be based on the Bible. Churches are made of people and are fallible.

“Did other geographic religious regions suffer as much bloody conflict?”

Everywhere man is, there is bloody conflict. God isn’t planning on stopping that until He comes back to take a more direct role in the administration of this planet.

If my church ever even thought of a female preacher, I suspect 80-90% if not more would walk out the door that day. Several of us have keys to the building and would be dropping them on the floor as we walked out.

After many years in the church, Lisa realized later after a visit to the concentration camps in Europe that her perspective on faith had always been a transaction — “if I’m good enough or if I pray enough or if I believe enough then I get blessings and I get a baby or a good life. That’s not how life is.”

It isn’t what Christianity teaches, either. “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” - John 16

The human death toll of the ancient world is minuscule in comparison to modern atheistic numbers.

They were way too young and not spiritually mature for their roles. Its ok to transition out of a megachurch but to not believe or thank God anymore for all His blessings? Yikes—
Hoping these prodigals return to the faith.

Mr. RooRoo and I visted Dachau when we went to Germany a couple of weeks ago. Over 32,000 innocent souls entered the camp and were exterminated there. And Dachau was a teeny little killing camp compared to Auschwitz!!

That this could happen does not shake my faith in God, but it does shake my faith in the decency of my fellow man. How could Germans allow these mass murders to occur? How could they stand back, watch one evil man destroy their country, destroy Europe and nearly destroy the entire world? How could they pretend they “didn’t know what was going on” when they smelled the smell of incinerated flesh every day?

Dachau left us feeling speechless, overwhelmed, and incredibly sad for the people who suffered there.

We have women priests in our church. They give some pretty thoughtful and inspiring sermons. I really don’t understand why women, in the minds of many, should be deemed incapable of spreading God’s word?

.
The entirety of “Christian Doctrine” is what is wrong.

“Christianity” is not the faith of Yeshua’s sheep!

It is a 100% man made religion, just like Judaism and Islam.

Yeshua said the there would be few that found his narrow path, and there is surely no doubt about that!

.
What’s important is “Does Yeshua ‘Know’ you?”
(Matt 7:21-23)
